I call fake news on this supposed NC State stuff. Why would this be announced on here and nowhere else, by a user who just registered today and has just 1 post, with a username that implausibly suggests he represents her whole high school (that she doesn't even run for)?

I think of it as: Because of her personality she doesn't like to give long or substantive interviews herself, so she makes up for it by having her club speak for her at length. It's like how traditionally, pro wrestlers who lacked great promo skills were given managers to do their talking for them.

Can't you read? The post I responded to said she was like a pro athlete who had a manager do their talking for them.
College coaches aren't going to give a scholarship to a student who needs someone else to do their talking for them.
OK, I was actually mostly joking in my above post about her having someone else do her talking. That's what it seems like, to the general public who hears about her only through running media. But I'm sure in a one-on-one context she's very different.
I'm not sure why people would be that surprised by Ellie Shea deciding to run at NC State. It appears that she has always made decisions to give her the best opportunities to succeed in running. I wouldn't be surprised by any female runner deciding that NC State is the place to attend if the primary goal is to succeed in running.
I am nut surprised at all. Most runners choose with their heart and legs over their brain. NC State is a solid school. She is an elite runner so it makes sense but the vast majority who choose schools like NAU will never be a pro runner.
