Okay, even if that is Parker Valby’s actual tik-tok, do you seriously think that is a recent video? Instead, maybe she drug up an old video and put that caption on it?
I didn’t want to bring up what serious problem is coming, which is the coming AI ability to fabricate false, but realistic looking videos.
I would suggest young people to avoid posting on tiktok, because it provides content that will feed the flood of false videos and growing disinformation.
It's completely off-topic, but I didn't know Shannon Osika had a sister at Michigan State. How does that work? One sister being a Wolverine and another a Spartan?
here's to a (as Spock would say) Long and prosperous rivalry . Hoping BOTH put on a display of their talents for several years for their fans. No matter the display those fans display on social media boards.
Not everyone is elite talent but what is point of anyone training hard if there is a high probability they will get yanked out of any big race? Supposing Valby and Tuohy qualify for the Olympics and get lapped by Hassan or Gidey like what happened to Switzer and Cranny--it would be reasonable to pull all these women out of race?
It’s the VO2. Low 15 minute 5ks on virtually no running. Cross training is great, but it’s not running volume. She’s performing nearly as well as Touhy without training.
The German Fernandez comparison is a good one, but I hope it works out for her.
But this still does not explain the issue of top end speed needed to be competitive as a pro. The fastest we have seen Valby run a 1600, which was a DMR split, was 4:35. Tuohy, on the other hand has run a 4:23 DMR split along with a 4:24 collegiate record for indoor mile.
Many posters on here think Tuohy doesn’t have enough top end speed. I think the jury is still out on that. But getting back to Valby, if she is 12 seconds slower than Tuohy over 1600, how on earth would she be the better prospect in the 5000? Make it make sense.
I think where you might be off is nobody really thinks there is still a 12 sec diff between them in 15 or 16. Valby just limped her way around the track 20 sec slower in a 5k. I am sure even in the shape she is in now which is injured, she would be within a few seconds. Unfortunately we still have to have this "if healthy" convo.

Zero chance it is an old video. You record /create the videos within the app and publish. I get you do not use tiktok.
More importantly, theother runner in the video is a first year freshman who is redshirting outdoors, Olivia Jones. Again, recent. Last year she was in HS sr in Massachusetts, so... ?
No reason for you losers to be obsessing over the social media of college kids. Please explain.
I don't care about social media, but I am social media savvy and understand the app. People on here are trying to claim a college athlete is not running when they are out doing long runs and posting about it (very recently) is the extent of my interest.

Really??? A 4:23??? Valby has never even when healthy come close to that kind of mile or 1600 time. In Valby’s own words in the interview after the XC championship, she chose the strategy she did because she does not have the speed and could not outkick Tuohy. It still didn’t work.
Valby had a great XC season and was completely healthy then. And it was after XC when Tuohy put the hammer down in the mile and DMR splits. Sure, there are a few in the NCAA that could get within a few seconds such as Appleton, Barnett, Plourde, but Valby’s not one of them. She could make a 10k interesting though, to be fair.
