Ok, she’s not turning pro yet and was held out competing in Raleigh Relays, where admittedly, competition was weak (who here thinks she couldn’t have easily beaten Markezic @15.33?). So where is she competing next? Where can she find other runners able to do sub15 5K’s? or, alternatively, sub4 1500? Less than a year back I predicted she’d meet or exceed these standards before the end of her college career. Whether she does or not she needs to show progress and deliver PR’s worthy of her building reputation. It turns out that her 16:10 5K @ indoor nationals in Albuquerque was a record for races above 1,000 meters in altitude (The race was held at 5352’).

Was that a college meet? If it was, why wasn’t she in the race? I see she lives there at altitude, would have given her a great advantage.

My post is taken out of context because the post I was responding to was deleted. I was defending Tuohy and was responding to someone that was bagging on her.
Go back to school and learn the definition of sarcasm, you little weasel.

Mazza Downie and Larkin were both at NCAAS. That was one of the questions the announcers had during the broadcast - why weren't any of the altitude runners (there were a lot) getting out there and pushing the pace?
Tuohy is performing or outperforming most if not all reasonable expectations. Last year she was recovering from injury and didn’t have any individual titles. Now she’s got 4 to go with her team titles over the last 12 months. This is in addition to 2 College Records attained in 2 weeks. She has the chance to go after more titles and records in the outdoor season. Why are we seeing so many here disparage her accomplishments and even appearance. Is it jealousy? She‘s a humble 21 year old student athlete that is completing her 4 year degree in 3 years. She’s obviously very bright to go with her pleasant personality. She’s never drawn attention to herself and always defers to her teammates and coaches. Does she have a lot of fans? Sure. We’re a sports hungry nation with very few female sports superstars. Can we take a deep breath and stop expecting every talented runner that’s coming up through high school and college to take her down? Let’s admit that she might just be that talented, with no signs of chemical enhancements or artificial performance boosters. As others have pointed out here, when you get to the top of the pyramid, testing is done on a routine basis. She hasn’t lost an individual race in the last 12 months. Let’s just enjoy it and tamp down the jealous impulses.
OK, I’ll put on my flame-proof suit now…
