That is correct. Her advisors are playing the odds that she won't have a serious injury. But those same people likely pay for car insurance and life insurance which is going against the odds. People have a difficult time assessing risk and reward.
She has advisors? Whether to go pro is her decision and no one else’s.
If any individual in the world lives in a vacuum, they are in trouble. The smartest people are the ones who listen to teachers and parents and peers and coaches and experts. If you are saying that she disregards advice from everyone, she is not the person at all that I thought she was. I thought she listened to parents and coaches at the very least.

You said her advisors are playing the odds that she won’t get injured but it’s actually Tuohy that’s doing so. Of course she should listen to advice but she’s an adult. Weighing the possibility of getting injured is not rocket science. Did you let other people make decisions for you when you were her age?
I would take it and I would recommend it to my athletes or children. I hope it works out for her. It likely will but I wouldn't take the gamble of a guaranteed $2M as opposed to $0 for 1 year of enjoyment.
She really has no downside. If by chance she is injured, she can take that powerhouse Wolfpack business degree, combined with her experience/contacts in running and move right into product management for one of the leading shoe companies. In no time she's making $300k a year plus options, and she's the one signing the athletes. In 2040 she retires and takes the Max Siegel job.
If she is improving so much, then something is going drastically right in her training and coaching and support systems. Why upset the apple cart. At least stay the course this next year and perhaps even through cross country. Pro's will always be there.
We don’t have enough information to form an opinion. How much is she making with NIL? How much more would going pro yield? Seems she really enjoys her team, the coach, and the pack. Those experiences are priceless.
You don’t know the size of her NIL contract nor what the size of her potential contract would be if done this month vs. this summer vs. this winter, when she graduates. She very well could add additional titles, individual and team by November, as well as several potential College Records. Who’s to say what her contract size might be if all goes well. If the worst happens, like a career ending injury she’ll have other options. All these are her decision and not yours. You’re not her advisor or you would have said so.

Nobody is giving her advice here. This is a message board. People are providing opinions and having a cordial discussion. Some of you get emotional over people providing reasonable opinions on running related topics. This is an interesting topic. Please don't get it deleted. That happens too often here. There are some ridiculous topics but then the ones that are good, turn into insults and are sht down.
But if she signs a pro contract for $2M and gets injured, she gets the $2M plus the $300K per year. $2M may be nothing to you but it is lot to me.
On what basis do you make the assumption of a $2M contract? I highly doubt any distance runner warrants that. The difference between her NIL contract and an individual performance contract may be much smaller. Additionally, she could renegotiate her NIL contract if she wishes. Finishing her degree and spending time with her team has value as well. A few more months could very well be worth it. She could solidify her NCAA legacy so that her records could hold up for another generation. I’m sure Adidas will take her progression into consideration as they renew her annual NIL contract.
At least $2M. Hunter got $2M about 6 years ago. Her NIL deal is rumored at $100K for 1 year. It disappears if she gets injured. $2M pays regardless if injured or not.

I provided evidence. Either do the same or we can take your ‘alternate facts’ as fiction. At any rate my graph should provide some pause to the wild speculation as we’re heading into another recession and uncertain economic times.
Mikaela Shiffrin, the 27yo GOAT skiing racer, makes $3M. The numbers drop off like a cliff for lesser mortals. Shiffrin has won (88) more World Class races than any other superstar racer, living or dead!

Someone is drastically underestimating this number based on popularity of world cup skiing circuit in USA: low, and the prize money payout for ski races: peanuts like diamond league track.
But skiing is huge on tv in Europe, she's a Serena Williams level star there and she is useful in the 75-100 countries where skiing is relevant. Also has very high likability factor. With Visa, Barilla,. Atomic Skis, Longines, Oakley, Adidas etc., she's now making $10 million plus annually.
