I think this is true. Don't think she's blithely chasing happiness with no regard for others or the hardships ahead. She cut her hair AND got bangs. We can't know what she's going through.
Sometimes children are happier when the parents are divorced and they are freer (both parents). At least in this case both the mother and father still were civil to each other and career-oriented too, but they also understood a healthy divorce is better than an unhealthy marriage.
Yeah that can be true. I wouldn't know, but packing up and driving between houses twice a week through your childhood sounds depressing AF but I don't know the whole story. It's interesting that people are wishing for the best for "the two of them," but that's ignoring the kids who are more likely to be negatively impacted by the situation. Obviously the two adult divorcees in their late 30s are going to be fine, they don't need the toxic positivity.

Reddit has interesting observations on this situation. I don't like how Dean was judgmental about it but I get where he is coming from. I also respect your POV completely. My parents are married but it would have been better had they been divorced. Yet I know kids who still struggle to this day based on what you said (very true in some cases).

All being said, I haven't been a huge fan of people jumping to the conclusion that Lauren is the one who caused/initiated it, or that she did so because she selfishly wanted to date women. We actually don't know what caused it so it's a little silly to assume she's the one "at fault"
But I am over trying to make everything a growth experience for show on social media, and the fact that all these enlightened adults commenting about the "two of them" really pisses me off too. Everyone seems to have forgotten the kids and how hard this will be on them.
Bottom line is when kids are involved divorce is hard, painful, and involves a ton of grief for them. It's not a growth experience or something to be proud of. it's family falling apart. Lauren finding her truest self shouldn't be the concern here, and neither should Jesse's dating life. It should be the kids.
I read this as Lauren’s realized she’s a lesbian and she wants to pursue a relationship with a woman. Nothing wrong with that.
I remember long ago, when she made the “balls” comment after a race, I sort of got the vibe she wasn’t straight and I was surprised she was married to a man.
I'm sure she wanted children, which she now has. Being 'bi' can conveniently cover how she thinks of herself both past and present or before children and after children.

She's on the NYTimes bestsellers list. I'm waiting on line for it at the library. Both the print book and the ebook have well over 100 people waiting for it.

It was sold out at Powell's Books as well, one of America's biggest bookstores. I think it sold very well and, from what I've heard, was a very good book.
The book and the divorce, are two separate things. Authors can be good and divorced.

I also think in running-centric areas like Boulder, Denver, the west and Seattle/Portland it's probably sold out. Same with the Eastern Seaboard (Boston to VA Beach/Norfolk).
