All I see here is that Tuohy will have lots of options if she stays healthy. Her progression will put her in an elite class by ‘24, if not sooner (sub 4 and sub 15) as I predicted a few months ago. Her fan base is growing and NCAA exposure, while competing and beating pro’s, will hopefully put her on the ‘24 Olympic team. Her coaches are experienced at making that happen. As long as she progresses under Henes’ coaching she will stick around and I’m sure her workouts can be adjusted accordingly. Her NIL deal reduces some of the pressure to go pro prematurely. At the very least she will get an undergraduate degree before making any moves…after that she can continue to take graduate courses at a reduced clip while picking up her training pace in preparation for a possible Olympic medal chase.

When is the last time someone from NC State made the Olympics? Joan Benoit? I'm not saying she won't make an Olympic team; I'm sure she will. But to say NC State is "experienced at making that happen" is just wrong. Both UNC and Duke have put people on the team. NC State is the weak link in the Triangle area. Here is the list of all US Olympians from 2008-present.

Thank you for preparing this. I really enjoy data more than opinions and bickering. This must have taken a while to prepare.

Nc state also has never had anyone near the level of tuohy’s overall talent either! #staytuned #grabyourpopcorn
Odd statement since Henes is faster. How can she be not near the talent? Are you saying Tuohy is lazy and Henes is hard working?

Henes went from being a successful NCAA champion to a pro career that made her a ‘96 Olympic trial finalist. She’s not the level of talent of Tuohy but as a female mentor/coach who’s been there at the next level beyond NCAA’s she still can be useful in guiding her to continue her progression. Are the other good female coaches out? No doubt. But she’s established a good rapport with Katelyn and Tuohy is happy, for now. That’s what counts. At her level, progress is as much mental as physical.

Arguably, no one’s ever seen this level of talent. B4 anyone argues how much faster the Africans and some others are…don’t bother, we’ve seen it before. For now, KT is in a unique class of her own, similar to her HS career…

You're just an idiot. One name is all that should be needed:
Joan
Let me know when Tuohy (or anyone for that matter) qualifies for SEVEN Olympic Trials, wins Olympic gold, and places top-3 in five marathon majors with three victories.

Several runners have already run faster than Tuohy's HS times, like Cook, Hutchins, and Wiley just in the last three years. Cain was much more accomplished in HS and Mark Decker was FAR more accomplished. We have seen her talent before and even better. Amy Skieresz was 2nd, 1st, 2nd, and 2nd at NCAA Cross. Kipyego won three NCAA XC titles and 9 total titles. Favor Hamilton also won 9. Just yesterday Wiley ran faster than Tuohy ever ran as a freshman outdoors and she did it indoors. Tuohy is an immense talent but don't act like her talent has "never been seen."
As for Henes qualifying for the Trials, etc. Yes, she had a great career and is a great coach. Her experiences definitely benefit Tuohy's potential Olympic future. But that was not what was stated by the poster. He made a comment that NC State is "experienced at putting people on the Olympic Teams." I sincerely think Joan was the last NC State runner to make it. Somebody correct me if I am wrong.
