Valby went for it, she was leading the race at 3k and 4k. She ran for the win as a freshman, Tuohy ran for 10th. Valby also got tripped and couldn't recover after that:
Earlier in that video dispels the idiotic notion that Valby came out of nowhere to run 15:20 and 18:58. She was pushing the pace at NCAAs last year for the first 4k.
The trip was at 12:50 in the video
Valby was a soph in that race same as Tuohy. They were classified freshmen due to the free COVID year.
Valby says she got tripped several times and fell on one of them.

I'm not sure what the point of the comment is here....Valby stumbled but recovered quickly. She did a good job staying in or near the lead for a while after that. But she just faded. She just didn't have the fitness that day. This is no offense to Valby, but anyone can push the pace for the first 4k...it's the last 2k that matter.
I know Valby had some injuries that year and likely wasn't at full fitness for that race...so good on her for giving it a go. I would expect that she will be much more prepared this year.
Valby's last 1k was only 3 seconds slower than Tuohy's and only finished 7 seconds behind your savior Tuohy. Valby ran like PREFONTAINE and Tuohy ran like a chicken. Considering Valby was only running twice per week that season, that's pretty incredible.
Wow. Twice per week. Tripped multiple times. Fell. Abducted by aliens mid race. Tuohy actually had a real fall (on an overhead shot you can vaguely see someone on the side of the course about where she fell start running again after the whole pack has passed by) and she ran a tough race getting back to help her team win. Valby faded. No shame in it.

That is debatable but her 3000 in January is not. It was equivalent to a 15:16. And that is before adjustment to an outdoor track and any credit for running solo, the hard effort (4:35) the day before, and finishing on a broken foot. She was in around 15:10 shape at that point.
In June when she ran 15:20 she was not all the way back so any claims that she improved while only doing cross training and that has to be due to doping are false. In fact she was 10 seconds slower which is what would be expected.
Lacctic now has her rated 15:09 which is right about where she was before breaking her foot.

Not sure how shallow or immature you actually are, but whatever floats your boat. I said nothing about Tuohy....not sure why you feel the need to make the comparison. Maybe you just feel better about yourself by insulting one athlete to promote another.
I like Valby, and hope she does well at Nationals.

Katelyn went from being at the FRONT pack to almost the 50th place after falling down then made her way up front again, and still finished, all that with an injury, Valby incredibly FADED.
There is just no way a healthy Parker Valby will get beaten by Tuohy this year and in the upcoming years. Valby is just on another level and looks to dominate NCAA in the next few years if she stays healthy. A new star is born!
Remember she ran 18:58 6k for her first race!
I'm all for it. Will bring some drama to the track season
Pre was world class at Tuohy's age. If he is overrated, she is a joke.
Thats why Pre never won. He thinks he was world class during that age. He got played by the real world-class runners and he never really won important races. Grant Fisher has more medals and wins than Pre yet people act like Pre won a dozen lol i dont get the hype so what if he broke a record before, many people did including Parker Valby's coach.
No matter how much I look at Prefontaine's achievements, the hype around him doesnt make sense, but when you think about it thoroughly, its because Oregon marketed him to be "that runner" despite his credentials IS LACKING. bruh.
Maybe my eyes are bad but I read the low points at just over 170 and the high ~190 ie high to low ~15 (ok maybe 18). The scale seems to be 170 to 200.
Meters. I see ~17 meters.
I stand corrected on meters vs feet though the units remain difficult to read (at least by me). Nonetheless the elevation changes at LG remain much less than at Zimmer.

Come on, finishing less than a second out of an Olympic medal is “world class.” Pre is overrated by many Americans but you’ve taken it too far. And I’m curious as to these important wins you say Fisher has over Pre. Doesn’t Pre have more NCAA and U.S. national titles?

assuming milesplit has this right, at age 19 he had won things Tuohy had not.
You are losing credibility. You haven't looked at any of his accomplishments. He held multiple American records. Has Tuohy run 8:20 and 14:20? That would be the equivalent.
