If Marlee is nursing an injury, even if she is likely to run Nationals...then it makes it extremely important for Shaw, Howlett, Quarzo, and Mareno to show well. The 6th / 7th may come into play.
Based on Bush's interview, it is sounding more like Shaw may be out for the season.
Some thoughts: Maddy Denner could come out of nowhere like she did to get 9th at NCAAs last year, although it seems a bit unlikely. Even still I think she will be top 20. Who knows if Starliper is healthy, fourth might be optimistic even if she races after nearly a month off. Maatoug looks pretty strong after 28th at Nutty and 2nd at Paul short behind only Kemboi, but she doesn't have a lot of racing experience which could be exposed here. If Roark has a day like she had at Jamboree, she could break up the NC State top 5, but nutty wasn't quite as strong for her. I would put Brynn Brown higher than 10, as she has been consistent so far with top 20 at nutty and top 8 at Paul short. I am not confident in Shaw right now finishing 8th, and that is if she even races at all. Frias finding her stride after a storied senior year, Appleton a little unknown due to lack of big races but looked strong running 16:31 at panorama farms. Markezich could be anywhere from 4-9 for me but she usually trends better later season.

In the coach's press conference he seemed to indicate that the layout is new this season as well because of nationals next year. Please correct me if that is wrong.

He was talking about the 6k course in the presser - that has changed. I was responding to the question about the times for the 5K format, which really is a point of trivia heading into a 6K championship race. And as a bunch of others point out, what matters is who wins and the team scores.
No inside scoop as of yet. However, if Marlee is nursing an injury then it certainly would not make sense to run her at ACC's since they clearly don't need her to win. After that, it's anyone's guess, but she is definitely not out for Nationals at this point.

That would make sense...but I guess it depends on who is available.
So no Starliper tomorrow, and if Shaw is questionable then I don't know why they would run her now...why not wait until Regionals. If there is a possiblilty that Starliper is out at nationals, they would certainly need Shaw available.
Looks like neither Starliper or Shaw are running tomorrow. Hopefullly it's something minor such as a bit of rest, or maybe Henes wants to give some others a chance at a championship meet
