NXN is on! Is Runninglane dead?

Running Lane was never really alive.

I am sure the meet organizers and staff are well to do, hard working people. But the whole concept was lackluster and flawed from the start. When kids are running 4:37 last miles entirely down hill it isnt cross country. It's like PeeWee's fun house filles with contraptions and tricks. No director or coach anywhere else across the United States, would ethically design a fraudulent course like this and move it forward.

The Alabaman's just dont have the same capacity to think better. If they wanted to be a player they shouldve thought longer term. In retrospect, the meet will be a flash in pan, ad hoc solution during the pandemic.Thank you for that. But the course is sketchy and will never be a national championship caliber meet again. I say go ahead and continue using it for JV high school meets at the end of the season to get them.to end on a high note and turnout again next year.

I think….RunningLane should happen in 2022, and NXN should happen in 2023.

Because Newbury Park won’t be favorites in 2023, and they will probably have 2 sub-15 guys at the most.

You obviously haven't been to the park, it is was also the site location for Division 1 South Regionals in 2021 and will be the site for 2022 as well. You better get used to Huntsville/John Hunt Park being on the map of high caliber cross country races, because it isn't going anywhere.

Runninglane announced their date last year shortly after the event if I'm not mistaken. So it becomes a question of if Newbury wants to chase history or play in the mud, their call. Because most schools will go where they go.

I don’t buy that other teams are going to decide where to go based on NP’s decision. You’re telling me a free trip to Nikeland will be passed up to pay travel cost to AL just because NP is going. Just don’t see that being much of a factor.

I think people will be surprised with how many teams end up choosing RunningLane. HS kids want to run fast times to end their season, not slog through the mud, despite what some on these boards think.

The lack of a regionals qualifier as well be a big draw, particularly in the larger regions where you have to pay travel/hotel expenses anyway just to get to a regional meet. Would not surprise me at all if RL gets most of the top talent again.

This, parents are paying their own way for a regional and national meet if they opt in for the nike marketing event. Or they can go pay for 1 event that is for the kids and not for the swoosh!

It is a dedicated championship course. It has hosted regional NCAA meets and has other championship meets planned. I dontthink you understand how nice it is to have a wide starting line and a wide course that is spectator friendly. I haven't seen a better one.

Why are the only people who speak up the ones with extreme positions?

Both courses are great.

Both experiences are great.

Both places are kinda hard for many to get to.

Both places are more than worthy of hosting a championship event.

RunningLane RDs are awesome, knowledgable dudes. Nike is too big to have even a face associated with NXN. When hosting a National meet got hard, Nike couldn't pull it off. RunningLane did.

Nike...well, they did move the sport forward by turning the idea of a true national championship into a reality.

Newbury Park is going to commit to runninglane. The race will be as lit as it was in 2021. Sean Brosnan wants his kids to break records, and they will.

"Nike bailed"...Nike ran the meet for 15 or so years. NXN has a lot of indoor time on their campus with Nike employees all over. Stop getting upset with Covid stuff. Everyone handled it differently for better or worse. Nike ran this meet for a long time and nobody else stepped up.
