It is likely he had that strength in June and we are just seeing it now. But you do hope just about anyone can drop 2-5s off their mile PR going from JR to SR year and at his level, we are talking fast times...

Here's what is just outright nuts about this 14:47 : If you saw this race (or saw the video), Gilles was out front in a solo lead until well into the race, with Birnbaum content to just linger in the chase pack. It wasn't until well into the race that Birnbaum bridged the gap, then pulled away, eventually winning over Gilles by about 35 seconds. Makes me anticipate all the more what the showdown between Breker and Birnbaum will look like at NXR on November 13th. If they're driving each other hard from the start, might we see a sub-14:30 on this (flat & fast) course? I can't wait.....

I think Jackson’s team has a shot to go this year if they don’t choke.
They returned 4 of their top 5 from NXR and added a solid 5,6, and 7 last race.

Surprising? Not gonna lie Birnbaum especially since he closed the last 100 in something like 12.7
