At this point they are the drunk uncle telling racist jokes at the BBQ and not realizing how out of touch and unfunny they are.
Look at all the brainwashed college students defending madness here it’s insane. If you think that men should be able to compete against women then you don’t have children. You’ve never seen a group of five year old boys demolish an equivalently skilled group of seven year old girls in a soccer pickup game. It is a cruelty to women to allow men to compete against them in serious competition. The brojos are speaking truth through satire. Unfortunately the average audience of letsrun is college aged woke kids.
You can believe that we need to protect the female category in sport while also not misgendering and being a general a$$hole to trans people. I know you’re too thick to comprehend this, but we don’t hate you because we think trans athletes should be able to compete wherever they want. We hate you because you’re a bad person
This is so disgusting. I 100% agree that transwomen should not be allowed to compete with biological women because it is not fair, but this article (although only as a joke) is just harmful and has no place on a site like this.
Unfortunately it’s exactly what is to be expected from a “site like this.”
sad there isn’t another place on the internet to post meet previews, schedules and info and for people to talk about running, because this place is the sweaty taint of the internet
The clear solution is to simply eliminate gender categories in sport.
Its misogynistic. And unnecessary given men competing in women's events have no unfair advantage.
Merge "Mens" and "Womens" events for all Sports. Problem solved.
But I expect nobody will listen. Just like when I solved World Hunger and figured a plan for Peace on Earth.
Perhaps we should have written that article instead: "World Athletics says it is getting rid of women's category for sport."
Could argue it's more of an April Fools vibe to get the same point across. We talked about this on the Friday 15 podcast we just recorded at end. For everyone who is saying we're transphobic would they say anyone who says Lia Thomas shouldn't be allowed to compete in elite women's sport is transphobic?
OK so if one doesn’t find it funny then one is labeled as part of the “woke brigade.” You are the same person who would be wearing black face years ago and making derogatory jokes about blacks. That is who you are. Then others would say you are out of line and you would label them as part of the woke brigade. I will give the Brojos credit in that they generally missed the mark here with most of us and yet they are letting most people respond with that sentiment. Much of what Rojo does is trolling anyway. Trolling will lead to some hits and many misses.

No. People who write huge, incredibly unfunny op-eds about it and beat it into the ground with zero compassion for those are struggling with it outside of the incredibly local scope that they're forced to think about it are transphobic.
I personally just LOVE this latest contribution from Let's Run. Fantastically on point and humorous.
I have been defending it on Twitter all day!!
Nice work BROJOS.
I got a text saying we were being crucified on twitter today. I don't think we even tweeted out the article which means we really hit a nerve with the blue checks. Robert did reach out to David Melly who called us transphobic to have him on the podcast to discuss this but he declined.
H A H A H A H A CASUAL TRANSPHOBIA IS HILARIOUS GOOD ONE LETSRUN!! Very mature and professional and not at all intolerant. Top-tier comedy. pic.twitter.com/rdnU1kFB1V
So it's transphobic to be scientifically accurate? We used the terms and the crass body part to drive home point, Lia Thomas is not a (biological) female.
We've never said this "It’s also transphobic (and absurd) to suggest that trans people are somehow lying about their gender identity for personal gain."

Do you not read your own thread? Or just being intentionally obtuse? Almost no one on here is saying Lia Thomas should be allowed to complete. But most seem to be calling you transphobic or in the very least, have very poor taste and judgement regarding this issue.
Why do you keep trotting this strawman out? Very few people on LRC think Lia Thomas should be competing against women. Most of us think you are being a transphobic a-hole with your approach to this topic. Is that not clear?

This is basically the sad truth at the end of the day.
People say they want actual news, but they don't -- there's a reason mainstream cable news turned into a hot take opinion factory. In today's culture, attention is the currency, and the only way you get the attention is if you stand out with some opinion that incites a reaction, positive or negative.
The BroJos eventually figured out that no one wants the dry conversation -- that's what Track and Field News is for -- so they leaned into the forum with an incredibly laissez-faire attitude, which in turn made it the haven for the dumbest and most bigoted numbnuts in town. And from there it was only a matter of time for the BroJos became that themselves.
Not true at all. I’m certain that well over 90% of LRC are neither the dumbest nor the most bigoted numbnuts in town. You and your ilk may believe that because you have surrounded yourselves in an echo chamber of wokeness. So when you’re exposed to some real numbnuts you’re inclined to start painting with a very broad brush. The same broad brush that you abhor being used against you.
As someone else said, this topic is neither nuanced nor complicated; biological males have an advantage over biological females and should not be allowed to compete in the women’s division of sport. To say that is transphobic rises to an astounding level of numbnuttery.
Perhaps we should have written that article instead: "World Athletics says it is getting rid of women's category for sport."

They keep trotting this strawman outside because they are very clearly too stupid to understand the difference.

Another strawman....you avoid the arguments against you in your own thread and go searching around the internet to post something you can 'win'
Why don't you respond to twitter on twitter and focus on the posts in your own thread here?

If you think this is the argument being made, and the crux of why one might think that the op-ed is incredibly unfunny and distasteful, then you are indeed one of the dumbest numbnuts in town.

Did you discuss with any LGBT people when you talked about doing this? Have any trans people appeared on your podcast? Have you invited any? Did you involve any women in your talks about writing the article? Have you spoken to anyone in the swimming world about Lia Thomas?

Please show us where in this thread people calling anyone who opposes Lia Thomas competing against women is transphobic. There might be one or two at most, (if any)? If you bother to actually read before responding you would realize that well over 90% of people calling the brojos transphobic, themselves don't think Lia Thomas should be competing against women.
So why do you need to pretend like that's the argument?
We've spent a lot of time thinking about this and realize we need to admit we were wrong. We hope we can be forgiven for our previous stance.https://www.letsrun.com/news/2022/03/we-were-wrong-biological-men-dont-have-an-unfai...
His posts were along the lines that transgender people suffer from a mental disorder. Those posts despite being considered transphobic by many are off topic and moderators chose to remove them. Any subsequent posts along that line will be removed as well.

They are not stupid. Here is the truth that you likely do not want to hear Karen Rodgers. Many of us are uncomfortable with this transgender issue. I am on your side here though. But in all honesty the subject makes me a tad uncomfortable and likely the Brojos too, although I respond to my discomfort by thinking I should have compassion and acceptance for everyone and that my discomfort is irrelevant. So many of us grew up not thinking gender was fluid so you must understand that a new paradigm is uncomfortable at first. I am very bright but I am still struggling to understand it all. I am far from alone.
