For the record, I have no insider info on the situation but maybe they say her slightly negative goodbye to BTC letter, heard other things about her (true or not) and had second thoughts?

Depends on her plan. She may be planning to sign a non exclusive contract and bolster it with lots of mini contracts for non-kit companies.
Then you get into an argument with Nike about the difference between exclusive and non-exclusive contracts and the terms and conditions.
I can see why she might just want to avoid that entirely.

At the end of the day she still has to run in someone’s shoes. Even if she makes it to the Olympics she’ll be wearing that Nike swoosh on her chest. Unavoidable
I think she may have thought this would be easier than it is, and now the companies have the upper hand. They know she’ll be doing trials soon and most companies budgets have been spent by now. I think there’s a decent chance she’ll end up getting what Nike offered. It just seems like a very risky play right before the olympics. Doesn’t Nike give their athletes access to doctors and physical therapists as well? She’s missing out on all of that + a salary.
She honestly doesn't need a shoe sponsorship. She's incredibly profitable through advertising endorsements and could honestly stay unsponsored so she could train and race in whatever she wants.
That said, she's gonna sign with Puma. You'll see

Yes and no - a runner's career is short so not have that additional money coming in is kind of risky in the long run. It's not like she's straight out of college, and she was REALLY injury-prone before so considering all of that, I'd say the smart decision would be to get a contract. I don't care who she signs with really, but she should sign with someone.
It has now been 46 days since Colleen announced her departure from BTC. This is well beyond the "we have to cross our T' and dot our I's before we make the deal public" range. It seems more and more like she majorly overestimated her value on the free market in the 6 months before the Trials when brands are already committed. Huge unforced error on her part. She is lucky the competitio in the steeple isn't super strong-- I have to imagine losing your coach, world class training partners, and having to put in effort hustling for a new sponsor will all have negative effects on her training. I predict she will come in third, 5-10 seconds behind Coburn and Frerichs at the the Trials.
Yeah something didn’t go as planned that’s for sure. I think someone said on here though that she’d be announcing something in the upcoming weeks? I didn’t watch her podcast where they asked her about it. Oddly enough, I bet she ends up with something around what Nike would’ve given her. I know I keep saying that but the longer time goes the more that seems like a real possibility.

She should go to NB!
I have a feeling that she is unable to pass a physical right now and this is the reason for the delayed announcement.
I am seeing some possible clues in her IG posts of late. I think that we might see a sponsor that is new to the sport, has no footwear tie-in, and no need for traditional Olympic marketing as they are more lifestyle driven.

Athleta? Lululemon? Outdoor Voices?
If that’s the case it will be interesting to see what shoes she wears after she’s continuously bashed Nike since her departure...
She’s probably sponsored by Lululemon to hide her “disappearing” abs with high waisted yoga pants.

I know somebody who has worked with Colleen and said she was kind of bipolar and you never really knew what mood she would be in and she would be fake nice to people.
If bitchy and fake nice are your options, what’s the best choice? I’ll take (and serve)‘fake nice’ whenever possible.

Not sure either of those are desirable traits to have. The jist of it was that she was a pretty lousy person behind the scenes to her team mates and other co-workers, but all smiles and love to the public.
She just posted a story that said the day she declined Nike’s contract for 4 more years was a huge weight off of her shoulders lol I hope another huge weight doesn’t take it’s place like the weight of very little financial security.

Probably just you. The obsession people have with saying negative things about this woman because she declined a contract from Nike is pretty weird.

Nope thought the same thing - maybe because it's been so long since she had a sponsor she felt the need to go over the top to let people know she's happy she left? She just put a lot of pressure on herself - if she doesn't perform everyone will think her new coach sucks, and she should have stayed with Nike.
