I haven’t heard anything about Colleen Quigley’s sponsorship situation. This length of time seems a-typical, especially for someone as good as Colleen. Has anyone heard anything?

She recently did a podcast in which she addresses her sponsorship. You can find the link in her IG post from today. I haven't listened to the podcast yet.
Listened to the beginning and Nike didn't offer what she felt she was worth, so she left the company and BTC. She's talking with a few companies and hopes to make a sponsorship announcement within the next few weeks.
I will sponsor her.

I'd be fascinated to the know the numbers:
a. What Nike offered
b. What she thinks she's worth

Indeed. Unfortunately she kept it vague and didn't mention any figures. The host didn't ask, either.
I wonder if Nike went really low or stayed close to the last contract, but just didn't raise it. No doubt she's a gifted runner and has had success, but her injuries must have factored into Nike's offer.
I'm sure Quigs will find a sponsor.

True, but isn't that a big distraction while training for the Games?

They offered her $150,000 and she wanted $250,000.

*obligatory source question*
If true, that number seems unreasonable, no?
That is ridiculous for someone who has only won a superfluous indoor title.
But wow, does she shill the heck out of products.

I wish indoors got more respect, but I can see your point. She has made teams, but last two Worlds have NOT gone her way. Guess Nike will only pay so much for social media influence.
If she’s asking for that much than it is unreasonable. There’s an article from a runner’s agent a few years back who estimated Emma Coburn at $150,000 not including bonuses. Colleen hasn’t proven herself to be where Emma is, but if she’s asking a lot she better be ready to put on a good show at trials and the olympics. I would feel like an idiot if I asked for a lot and then did nothing.
It's kind of funny that a senior software developer at Nike can easily earn more money that a Nike sponsored pro athlete.

Good points, all.

What's more crucial to the every day operations of a major company: Athletes or software developers? The former brings the recognition, the later brings the tech know-how.

*Latter.
How much does a model get paid for a print advertising photo shoot? For a television ad? If a few of those are built into the contract, $250,000 doesn't seem outrageous for a recognizable athlete.

It is a shame IMO that T&F doesn’t have more popularity. Look how much football players, etc are paid. Runners beat up their bodies everyday and work just as hard as any other athlete (harder if you’re an NFL kicker who gets paid millions to go out on the field a few times and be clutch when it counts). Nike has the funds to be more generous with athletes, they just know they can get away with what they do now because it’s not a hugely popular sport (outside of the marathon).

Good points, especially about Nike and the financial aspect, but should Nike pay more when the interest isn't there? I don't know.
