Every now and then I love to present a throwback of embarrassing behaviour from runfluencers. Todays is Ben Park and Runna claiming they were not away Matt Choi had a biker to film him on the NYC marathon course. On this fine Sunday, what’s yours?
Nice. Not quite a throwback, but this deserves way more side-eye than it’s getting.
Right now I’m fully “locked in” on Truett Hanes’ “Olympic Trials or Die Tryin’” saga. Are we, actual adults with jobs, bills, and dignity, really just gonna shrug and let this man speed run his own failure in peace? Or are we riding with the knuckledraggers (sorry, Daddy Huberman) who are somehow convinced he can drop from to legit 2:16 Olympic-qualifier territory?
And honestly? Part of me knows I’m complicit. I’m the rubbernecker feeding views to this nepo baby, yacked to the gills, zero responsibility, hybrid bro’s already stratospheric ego. I just feel like I need to defend my boy Sage and let him know he’s not alone here.
Anyone notice how often youtubers run a race in shoes they've never tested in the heat of battle, and then get excited by an unexpected PB (looking at you Fenton - saying before your 5k you don't feel good in the warm up, then running fastest 5k of your life in a brand new release you were given by the event sponsor that day) or a bit downbeat with a marginally slower than expected result (FOD yesterday, Linda Franks 5 miler)
I'd also add on that the average person isn't also being gifted a concoction of ketoneiq + nomio + bicarb + beetroot shots. Ofc these are all small %'s but this + new gifted shoes...
Certain of these youtubers need to pray that new products keep coming out, because some of them sure arent relying on just consistent quality training
We also forget the advantages of not having schedules & the usual 9-6 jobs etc. Apart from weekends, imagine being able to run as and when you please? Happy to hear argument's against this. I refuse to hear making reels of yourself running and throwing in a brand for an ad as a real job. Will be interested to see where runfluencers are in 10 years. Surely this can’t last forever?

I am actually a bit worried he will get into the trials, man is gonna push drugs like no tomorrow, he can train all day and will lose the mass to make things more do able- I dread the smugness of he hyrox boys if he gets in.

Well despite the fact that at least a portion of your post was written by AI, Huberman really grinds my gears. After 5 years of hawking all these stupid biohacking products and tricks to juice his own pockets, he's finally admitted he's been on gear for the last half decade.
Kofuzi has said in a podcast where he was interviewed that he would not be able to do what he does (travel, be a 46 year old youtuber) IF his wife did not have the job she has. She is the breadwinner and some bigwig somewhere. It's pretty icky that he doesn't make that well-known to people and his audience. There are so many people thinking they can do what he does not knowing that he can only do it because his wife provides the stability. He said that if she didn't, he would NOT be able to do what he does. His Kofuzi Run Club youtube talks twice a week are pretty lame. Playing games like "guess this shoe"...do people not work at 1 p.m. in the daytime or have anything better to do? Being a youtuber at 46 starts to get a little tired.
Huberman is an optimist, which is fine. He just has no file on the running scene.
Truett also read this and thinks “we’re getting nervous”. Brother I’m not nervous, just insulted. I run a faster marathon than you while having a marriage, two kids, a full time job with overtime, and not a golden spoon. Like most people. We can’t respond to “just work harder” from a boy with zero responsibilities.

The OG poncho walk. But that wasn’t embarrassing. It was glorious.
Does Ryan Thompson work? His day in the life video seems like he has nothing else to do only train eat and nap, living the pro life without pro times.
also wondering now that you guys brought it up. if he has no real job then...how tf is he doing nothing but running semi-elite and youtubing lol. the guy cannot be making much $ off his videos or any 'sponsors'.
i have to imagine he has family money or is a trust funder - either his own parents or his in-laws...because otherwise how is this guy doing nothing and bringing in no income from a job and seemingly waddling around all day to just train and post videos?
i'm envious but definitely lean towards him mooching off family money. who knows if that's the case. if it is, i find that pretty lame. but to each their own and it's not his fault he was born rich or married into money (if either are the case)
same deal with Emily Abbate and Izzy Seidel. Trust fund/nepo money.
Kofuzi has revealed that he earned $50,000 in 2025 from YouTube revenue. His data show that he had a total of 10.1M views for the calendar year. This equates to $5 per 1,000 views which holds true to the standard that most YouTubers reference in their “how much I get paid” videos.
Hopefully his brand deals net him $100K annually for now but I do not think brand deals are sustainable for him for the next 15-20 years. I can see him eventually moving back to a standard career and doing YouTube as a hobby.
quite sure ko's wife works a lucractive heathlcare or financial corporate type job. so he basically got the greenlight to quit his own corporate gig and just enjoy being a running youtube grifter. what a life the guy has. if his wife wasn't working a cushy job, i'm sure he wouldn't have been able to do and continue do what he's doing...literally traveling the world for free, obsessing over running gear and performances with other nerds, all while neglecting his wife and 2 kids! #jealous
just being honest, I'd feel a bit awkward not being the breadwinner in my family, but that's just me. Wouldn't he feel like a dependent? As a man it would make me want to get a real corporate job to stay even with my wife and do influencing on the side. And a lot of women nowadays earn more their men. Men need to go back to school and get their career mojo back.
I love people who say everything is genetics. It helps them sleep at night. No point trying is there? All those hundreds of thousands of people who run sub 30 all "got lucky" with genetics. Keep telling yourself that
You’ve got the wrong end of the stick. Running is one of the “fairest” sports on the world in the sense that a person with bang average genetics can become better than at least 95% of their peers. That’s not the case for soccer, basketball etc. But facts are stubborn things and some people just can’t run sub 30 no matter what they do. That doesn’t mean that people shouldn’t aspire for greatness but it’s just reality.
good post here, although I think NSM, for some runners, will be the equalizer and unlock hidden potential--they can safely improve at a faster rate over time (LONG TERM) than say Daniels, and do it without getting hurt.
Brett & Andy slagging off the Norwegian Singles Approach on their latest podcast! Also calling it the new trendy way of thinking.
Hope SirPoc wasn’t listening!
Not sure NSA is that trendy tbh. The proper instagrammy, beautiful looking, influencer, type runners like Fenton, Fashion Jogger, Donato, Gabriel, DentalAthlete, Runna crew don’t use it. That’s for sure.
I'm surprised the Utah downhill girls (Lizzie Ramey, etc.) or others like TrackClubBabe, EClor (the zebra piano lady), caitlynmillerfit or caitsouthkeen don't use it. Let alone dudes like Choi or Kofuzi.
The subreddit, this site, and strava are all exploding with success stories of those who use NSM, including beginners.
Running a YouTube channel takes way more than it looks constant pressure to create, stay relevant, and handle algorithms can be exhausting despite the fun parts.
