There is an unmistakable distinction between when Wil is walking and running. You can see it crystal clear in his cadence and pace. But you can’t tell at all in his heart rate. Why is that?

Even when we run slow there is always a difference in HR between walking and shuffling. Try it yourself. check your heart rate while jogging vs walking.

Since that isn't consistent with Will C's theory that someone else is wearing the watch, and is entirely consistent with what I've said (the readings aren't very reliable) I assume to meant to address this question to him?

Is anyone checking in on Will C? I know this saga has been hard on him, the poor chap. He deserves extra TLC for what he’s done here. Haven’t seen him posting much so want to make sure our welsh friends are checking in on him.

If you were going to cheat. Why cheat to MISS breaking the record of 53 days by 11 days? Also WG route is over 3100 miles. The record was set on a <2900 mile route. Why run the extra 200 miles. None of this "cheat math" adds up! (Pun intended)

the route is generally agreed upon to be San Francisco to New York City

the FKT for a female:

56 miles per day, Sandra Villines (fall 2017)

the FKT for a male:

72 miles per day, Pete Kostelnick (fall 2016)

In spring 2016, Robert Young attempted to run from LA to NYC. Pete Kostelnick called Asher Delmott (and one other friend in Kansas) to check in on the run, as it appeared fake, much further east than where WillG is currently on the map. Will Cockerell had no clue or perhaps believed RY was legit at the time. Asher Delmott found evidence of a cheater, and reported it on this very message board. Laz Lake and team went out to observe Robert Young a week or so later, and Robert Young soon thereafter quit his run in Indiana.

If you think Will Cockerell is a reliable source in transcontinental running, give me a break.

And my point is this—WillC doesn’t know what to look at for fraud. He may be some guy that claims to be the authority of transcons, but he’s never even done one in my knowledge, and certainly isn’t an expert in GPS data from reading his reports, anymore than the ineptness of the team out there now. So yes, I despise drama queens who claim to be something they aren’t, thank you very much.

Unreal record, stinking entitlement.

I keep hoping that the person calling himself Kostelnick in this thread is not really him because I like to believe that someone with such accomplishments is not as this person presents himself to be.

Boys across the pond. Let us know Will C’s status. We know he’s a renaissance man often getting lost on other pursuits (published poet, amateur cook, etc), but need him on this thread as the investigation continues and he is the expert, governing body on these transcons.

pK if indeed you do chat with the crew why have they not put the tracker on the runner, published the data? This is all so easy to make go away, and I'd love to see his feet because all of the distant pics of his trotters make it look like they're absolutely pristine!

there's a link to his track on his Insta, but it's totally useless. Just gives the van which tells us nothing. It goes all over the place. sometimes it does 45 miles in a day, sometimes over 80. it's been the most boring multiday to follow because you have no real idea how he's getting along. All such a f*** you to keen fans and studies of the sport.

He posts to strava every day, and usually updates on his IG story also. Not exact location though but should be easy-ish to work out where he'd be on a given day...?

yep roughly. But generally one has to wait 24 hours to pinpoint exact progress. Most of the time for these challenges, you can get real time data, and not have to watch the crew shopping at Wholefoods or what have you. Van can be up to 20-30 miles out of position.

Take a look. Why is Will constantly clean and even clean shaven? It looks like even his legs are shaven too. He doesn't look like a trascon runner. And the crew always look so clean and ready for camera too. And there are multiple camera angles like a production and even a tear jerking moment where a English Cancer fighter shows up in tears to thank Will for what he is doing.

Whether he is cheating or not is unknown but he most certainly is peddling NuCalm and this is a marketing Transcon. No doubt about that.

I mean, yeah, they're pedaling a product due to the realism that they have to for financial support of this run. I can't imagine anyone getting rich off such an endeavor, although there was Robert Young and his book (I believe now he works as a waiter). However, Robert Young also made claim to many absurd running feats, when this guy seems to me like just some everyday hobbyjogger (model background/highlighting cherry-picked running endeavors) who has the time to do this at a gritty, but nowhere near record pace. Sh*t, feel for the guy and all his followers, but who the hell are we to say he's cheating when this willvlc guy said he was legit on the ground in the USA, then decided to change his mind when people on here got upset at him for doing so.
