Regarding this comment made by 'grain trader': I kept track when I was first married. I put a penny in a bank for each time.
Here's the deal with keeping track with pennies.....if you put a penny in the jar for every time the first year, take one out each time the second year, one in the 3rd year, one out the 4th year etc etc they say you'll never empty the jar.

Interesting this thread reappeared just days after my (female) best friend revealed to me that her husband's sex drive is nonexistant. They haven't had sex in, get this, 6 years! She is considering divorcing him because he refuses to admit there is any problem. He won't see a therapist or a doctor. I tried to be objective and rational in offering advice, but acknowledged that situation would be intolerable from my (female) point of view. I probably wouldn't believe post-nuptial shut off was a real problem before my friend's revelation.

Save it for marriage like I did, 11 years and still going strong. Of course, every marriage has their dry times, but I've never been (overly) upset by it. Stick with marrying someone you can live with WITHOUT having sex with them, and you're in for a ride, quite literally, after the ceremony.

my situation exactly. but seriously, what is the solution? once kids are involved the situation changes completely. it doesnt make sense to ruin multiple lives for the sake of one on the basis of a single (although important) issue. I did and continue to do all of these things, in short I've always set the bar low, and in many ways "lead" this marriage, but she has the puss...ooops purse strings to the good stuff and the post nuptial tsunami took me down too...I'm 12 yrs into marriage and have had sex twice in about 6 or 7 weeks, and both were brief encounters completely dictated by her.

Your theory is flawed. Two of my friends who waited for marriage have wives with zero sex drive. They're the only couples I know of with post-nuptual shutoff. Ever think that a lot of people who wait until marriage can do so because they have low sex drives?

IMO, you have to know if you and your partner match sexually before going into marriage.
