getting 2nd and 4th isn't what I would call not showing up
When they came in at 1 and 2 it is. Still a good race. Track will be a different animal. IWU has depth over all events. Quite a few other schools rely heavily on distance and lack depth in other events.
IWU has like 3 sprinters and 0 of them are good. Wtf are you smoking

They have a ton of decent field events kids. That's what makes the difference on the track side.

They had exactly one field event kid score at NAIA nats last outdoor championships. They traditionally come top 5 solely when they stack points in the two mid-distance relays indoor and then add a scorer or two in the 3/5k
Masters women are taking it to Taylor over the last 1k.
Cumberlands Men's team is putting back-to-back 3rds with not-stellar regular seasons and performing well when it matters. I'm sorry I wasn't a believer but slowly winning me over. Respect
It's not surprising, but Milligan Chris Layne continues to show he is the best at XC. I'm not sure why earlier posts were hating on them. They went for it and raced well. Often, teams don't go for it. For example:
IWU splits show they finished strong, but did they sit back too far again and pass runners they should have been in front of? There is a lot of green in the results, but when do you go for it?
Demetris Love scoring 2nd and Jack Anderson scoring 4th. Also Asslouj scored higher than expected.
Love ran an incredible race. Congrats to him. I think the Master's winning was the biggest surprise solely because I thought Taylor was that good going in

Last year it getting taken out fast played massively to their favor. I think it hurt them today a little. They were well placed for a lot of the day but Silva's pace cooked them. the COI 4 won it by passing Milligan's 3/4 in the last K as well. Congrats to them they took it from Milligan
I respectfully disagree Silva pace didn't affect anyone. He ran 90% of the race by himself and everyone knew he was going to win and not part of the race. Nobody was chasing him
If we’re being honest, I think Vaughn and Ryan won it for COI more than Hipkiss and Kuhn lost it for Milligan. The 2 of them never really ‘blew up’. Hipkiss was between 20th-27th and Kuhn was between 23rd-29th from 1K out and they only lost 6 points between the 2 the last K which wouldn’t have mattered in the team scores cause they still don’t win.
Milligan had a phenomenal day, 5 All Americans is fantastic but Credit has to go out to COI for having an even better day.
Halfway through his third year and Sowder and the guys at Cumberlands have went 3rd, 1st, 1st, 3rd. Ladies 9th, 9th, 6th, 6th. Don’t care for them, yet have to notice.

They'll win indoor and outdoor this year as they should.
The ladies results have been underachieving. I would say not winning xc with the resources they have shows that he can't win without the massive advantage that they have on the track.
Two years ago the women were 23rd, 45th, and didn’t even score a point outdoor. Not sure you can say they are under performing… maybe just getting started 🫤
Whats advantage do they have in track compared to others?
Unlimited scholarship. I think you would be surprised how limited most NAIA schools are. They're also willing to keep kids for one year then move them on to other schools. When you get that much talent from the recruiting service and are also willing to invest heavily in the race walk it's pretty easy to win.
Not winning xc with that much distance talent coming in shows the lack of development
they are not the only program that is fully invested if you think so you are giving a disservice to places like IWU, Marian, BC, Ind Tech.
Milligan isn't winning XC without funding, I am sure others can add programs that are doing it right as well. yes, most are not, but you are not competing in the top five without a good amount of scholarships.
