I don't think it should be a contest at all.
Trump colluded with the Russians. He bungles the Covid pandemic.
He insults people who died in the military.
He insults the Minneapolis mayor (a runner no less) for no reason.
The only thing Trump has in his favour is his energy to continue this behavior.
That is seen as a strength by his base. Unfortunately, the more energy you seem to have, even if you use it in a negative way, can work in your favour in politics.
I hope Biden becomes more aggressive and uses people around him to keep him mentally sound.
Biden needs to be more agressive than Trump. Trump's only card is to be aggressive and attack.

I disagree... Biden should not get dragged into trump's losing game. Biden's strength is that he is genuine and cares about people. He should comment strongly on his disagreement with the direction trump has taken the country and the blatant criminality, but it's important for him to stay above trump. What Biden needs are continued endorsements. Angering trump's base further isn't good for Biden. He will want that small but material chunk of Rs to stay home in Nov. Right now trump is in desperation mode and Biden should not interfere.

Biden is in a great position and he is not a great campaigner. People like him, his polling is steady and people want calm, not a wild battle. He would likely make a lot of errors if he went mad dog.
BIden is winning doing what he is doing. The Dems should focus on blocking and tackling..get out the vote, voter registration, grass roots, etc.
That said, a traditional role for the veep nominee is to be more aggressive. I think Harris can do that.
