I think it's time we invoke a pay for performance offer as was done for Kip's thread? If PM will show up and run a 100 (miles, not meters) with someone trailing her the entire time, I'd pitch in $10 regardless of time. If she finishes in under 24 hrs, I'd be happy to chip in $20. My username is registered, and I bet we could get some other LRCs to chip in the same and offer PM a pretty decent pot of $.

Whatcha think Steve-o? I know when you get $90/runner at your I Ran races, you might not need the money, but on the off chance you lose some sponsorship $ in the near future....

Oh yeah, it's in court. Call me when judges actually do something about "false accusations of cheating at marathons"(while in courts you have more important things like robbery, murdering, gun abuse, etc.)

Mark - I've read this whole thread. I have no clue who Ken is why any of these people are suing each other. I don't care to do the research on my own to find out. If you would like to summarize the issue, please do so and start a thread on it. Please do a better job summarizing your case than Concerned San Antonian did back 950 posts ago, b/c it took 20 posts just to figure out what the problem was here with PM. But if you will explain the issue, I will read about it, and if it is interesting, I will comment on it. Then your chatters, or cheaters, or frivilous lawsuiters, or whatever these people have done to you, will have their day in the LRC light.

Let's be clear here, the case you are mentioning is in small claims court in California. Meaning at most, 7,500 max per claim and less in some instances.

I would point out that as Race Directors, most waivers and rules cover some of the legal mumbo jumbo like the rules for Badwater:

Race rules are designed to provide a safe and fair experience for everyone involved and to help ensure our ability to produce the race again next year.

Major rule infractions by racers or their crew, especially those regarding "cheating," will result in immediate disqualification of the racer.

Other, lesser offenses will result in the following cumulative time penalties:

First Penalty: One Hour

Second Penalty: Disqualification

Time penalties are imposed by the penalized runner stopping at the final Time Station in Lone Pine to serve his/her time penalty. The race and clock will continue while the penalized racer waits out his/her penalty time. A Race Official will be present to oversee this process.

The Race Director has the authority, at any time, to overrule any rule or invent a new rule based on extenuating, unforeseen, and/or unusual circumstances and/or to maintain the integrity and fair play necessary for the successful completion, and continuation, of the race. The Race Director has ultimate authority in regards to all rules, their interpretation, and their enforcement. There is no "appeals committee" nor an "appeals process." All entrants in the race, and their support crews, willingly acknowledge this fact, as well as all other race rules, by attending the race in any capacity.

In my opinion, A RD has the right, in good faith, to make a judgement call based on a preponderance of the evidence. I sure that RR100 RD looked at the evidence presented, provided the runner the opportunity to respond, and the made a decision based on the evidence provided. Clearly, rules are in place for a reason. The key will be to make sure the rules are consistently enforced in good faith based on the evidence at hand and the circumstances surrounding the matter.

2009 doesn't look random at all. Marathon guide shows 11 sub 4 hour marathons and 4 of those were sub 3:50.

Sure she may have been a bit faster 5 years ago. So what? She is cheating now. Data and eye witnesses support that claim. Stay on track here. How many people have to come forward?

We really don't know if anybody has come forward. I have a feeling some or all are just trolls or part of the group that used to hold the record.Do we have any verification that a non-anonymous person has come forward with allegations?

Has it been verified that this guy is not a troll. Plus, wasn't it a few pages back where it was found that he had been communicating with the woman who used to hold the record (and is apparently feuding with PM) a few weeks before accusing her of cheating? If so, I think that would disqualify (pun intended) him from being a reliable witness.
