DISCRIMINATION – to choose or to select , to define by the act of exclusion, something, or someone.
MINIMALIM - describes movements in various forms (…) where the work is set out to expose the essence, essentials or identity of a subject through eliminating all non-essential forms, features or concepts.
One problem sport of running is that some terminology mean different things to people all over the world.
I see that for poor mind or you or we do all paces in the same day or you discriminate and you do just one. To discriminate and be minimalist aren´t in contradiction or contradiction to what I always say.
Let´s see how you misunderstood my answer.
If you think about every different pace, every different workout training, each one does different methodology meaning. There are several kinds/types of training to put together in every session, every workout, every day, every week, every month, every phase or every cycle, or every season. I use multi-pace, fast to easy pace on the same day, on the same phase, on the same period.
HOWEVER I NEED TRAINING DISCRIMINATION AMONG THE MOST COMMON TRAINING I USE. This is the kind of discrimination I talk about. MY USE OF TRAINING DISCRIMINATION TROUGH THE LARGE SPECTRUM OF TRAINING VARIANTS and the way I discriminate it IT´S SELECTIVE BY MINIMALIM OPTION.
For example, I can have this kind of different paces. I name a few by memory and without lost too much, just enough that you might understand that I got a multitude of paces to DISCRIMINATE.
As minimalist I choose for the paces that among many (or all) MY choice is minimalist because more efficient and effective. Here´s the reason why I put on the top of discrimination and on the top of interest by minimalism the SPECIFICS AND THE RACE PACE. While say this it doesn´t mean that I just use Race Pace of course, but for me what´s essential on the training variants, because essence doesn´t mean elementary, or basic, or relate to training to “aerobics” or aerobics first.
The essentials of distance training approach is Race pace, not aerobics. The aerobics is the basic and the elementary despite I might agree that someone that just do aerobics is doing minimalism and discrimination as well, but another kind, the discrimination and the minimalism of the Lydiardist is by the basic and the elementary and the training foundation. My process of minimalism and discrimination is ruled by the specifics. I said this many times, specifics is the ultimate goal of my training method, however I don´t deny the interest of other training variables. Therefore I prescribe multi-pace and non-linear periodisation approach.

DAILY RUNS:
1/aerobic slow run of regeneration and very easy (non-dynamic), very common used by me to my runners the day(s) before or after competition as well as warm-up and warm-down (cooldown) AS WELL AS DURING THE INTERVAL RECOVERY ex: 5 to 7min per kilo on a 15min runner.
2/aerobic pace - medium to long runs – from 40min to 1h30min that is considered pure-steady state aerobic runs. Ex: pace of 4:20-4:40 per kilo on the same hypothetical 15:00/5k runner
3/long medium pace run – from 40min to 1h30min but at a 4:00-4:20 for the 15:00/5k runner
4/LT run of 20min to 60min run in continuum. Ex: 3:40 to 3:20 for the 15:00/5k runner
5/LT run of 20min to 60min BUT DONE BY INTERVALS with active or passive recovery.
6/LTp run of 15min to 30min run in continuum. Ex: 3:10 to 3:20 for the 15:00/5k runner
7/LTp run of 15min to 30min run by intervals.
FARTLEK RUNS:
8/Aerobic fartlek of bouts of short duration (1min and shorter)
9/Aerobic fartlek of bouts of medium duration . (bouts of 1 to 3 min)
10/Aerobic fartlek of bouts of long duration . (bouts of 4 to …minutes
INTERVALS:
11/aerobic intervals – short distance (100m to 300m)
12/ aerobic intervals – medium distance (400m to 1000m)
13/ aerobic intervals long distance (longer than 1000m)
14/race pace intervals – short distance (100m to 300m)
15/ race pace intervals – medium distance (400m to 1000m)
16/ race pace intervals long distance (longer than 1000m)
17/ faster than race pace intervals from short distance /speed endurance/faster than race pace
18/ faster than race pace intervals
19/ all-out flat intervals
( I just name a few types of intervals by pace and set distance but as you know since that the intervals might be done with a multitude of designs (total distance and/or number of repetitions and type of recovery – active versus passive; long versus short recovery length therefore I have a multitude of diversity of options I need to discriminate).

I use non-linear periodisation and multi-pace training, easy/slow and fast on the same day on the sme week on every phase of the process. This is true, but as you might understand (or you don´t ‘) I can´t use all the paces and more than 18 kinds of training on the same short period . Consequently I need to DISCRIMINATE AMONG AVERY POSSIBLE TRAINING VARIANT THE ONES THAT I DO USE ON THAT DAY, ON THAT WEEK, ON THAT PHASE EVENTUALLY.
What´s the contradiction here with what I said ? No one. It´s in contradiction but with Lydiard training.
Some things are hard to understand when one person is ignorant about the matter that he comments that is the case of mr. wetcoast about my training, and instead of confine to do interviews, he wants to move from interviewer to be commentator and critic about something he knows lesser than the person the interview.
This problem of misunderstand is bigger, if the person of the interview instead of try to understand the answers, in every answer, he relates all to Lydiard training, which wetcoast does as consequence of his trance- He sees Lydiard in everything, on every piece of training even in the others that aren’t Lydiard. It remembers me the movie New York stories (1989) when Woody Allen sees his mother image project on the sky talking with him. Sometimes I think wetcoast sees Lydiard projected in the sky. Or might be i be wetcoast got a Lydiard portrait on the wall of his room.
Wetcoast obsessive attitude that relates everything to Lydiard or Lydiardism, doesn´t permit him to be an independent journalism, but someone from the Lydiard lobby, someone non-independent when he interview someone.
