Ella Baran finished as an All-Regional selection, coming up from 33rd in the first third of the race to finish 15th overall in 20:32.6, including passing eight runners in the final kilometer. Kaitlyn Barthell was just off of the All-Regional placing with a 29th place finish in 20:51.8, followed by Emily Covert in 37th in 20:59.1. Covert started out the race eighth in the first third, then fell to 26th with a mile remaining before finishing in her final position. Gabrielle Orie was the final scorer for the Buffaloes, finishing 44th in 21:05.1. Whitney Valenti finished 82nd for the Buffs in 22 minutes flat, while Alisa Meraz-Fishbein finished just behind her in 86th at 22:04.6 "If Bailey feels ready to mix it up up front as she did two weeks ago, if we get Emily's leg well, we can outrun our ranking," said Wetmore. "We will probably drop in the rankings a little bit from eight. I think we're eight and we'll drop from that. But we can beat it if we patch together the next seven days correctly."

So nothing happened at Regionals that would make me change my prediction list...I fully agree that Valby can place anywhere on this list (including first) depending on how she runs hills. I do expect Tuohy and Valby to be battling until the last long hill, with a pack of 3 or 4 runners not far behind. Then we will get any questions answered.
I do believe Mercy has been hanging back these last 2 races....she will be right there...so I likely have her too low on the list.

I doubt it. It's a 6k, not a marathon. Everyone will be uncomfortable, everyone will be fine.

Do you think Mercy was hanging back at SECs? It kind of looked like she was all out to me. A coach(?) was on the video yelling for her to give it everything she had toward the middle- end part.
It is tricky to know where Alabama runners really are though because they have pack run so much this season.

Tuohy never liked the cold in hs, but cold and dry is better than cold and wet
Even with that being said, the only time she really suffered in cold and wet conditions was NXN 2019 where Ewert and Thorvaldson were right there with her at the finish. That wasn’t physical, that was a mental struggle she was going through at that time with all the pressure.
Otherwise, in a wet and cold conditions she routinely destroyed the competition.
No it isn't. I doubt that you have run it. I have been there several times. I put is similar to Wisconsin and Mizzou and nothing like the pool pancake at Notre Dame.
I don't really understand Lactic but it seems like someone named Keratin Augustin predicted to win nationals even though she was something like a minute and half behind bush in the Adidas Challenge at the beginning of the season. Also shows her 12 seconds ahead of PV and over 40 seconds ahead of KT. Am I missing something here? If not, it seems like there are some serious flaws in the methodology.

Here is a profile of the John Hunt course showing that hill being around 60 feet high with a 5K course total of 183 feet up and 180 down.

Obviously some bad data. She ran a 4K that got credited as a 5K.
