I think that it's certainly reasonable to assume that SLU and TCNJ will be neck and neck for fourth based on TCNJ's proclivity for peaking at regionals and SLU's reputation as a poor peaker. However, I think that this year's teams for each school are truly of a different composition than previous years. The number one runners for each school will clearly be up in the lead pack, but SLU's chase pack has shown itself to be consistently close to the leaders compared with previous years, while TCNJ's has not. Also, it seems that SLU basically packed it up for states, so it may not take the same toll on their legs as it has previously when they have run all out there. But, the bottom line is that we'll find out in six days.[/quote]

If it was a rust buster and he plans to be a factor on TCNJ squad, why the hell would he use it as a tempo run? If he was going to tempo 27:43 for 8k, he could have done it on his own, no need to get into a race to do it.

Oh I think you missed my point...it wont matter if they have guys there. The run will be respectable, but it wont turn heads like someone put it.

The VCP regional last year was fast, but I don't think it was because of the quickness of the course. The quality of the individuals and the teams made that race fast, not the course.

There were certainly some outstanding runners there, but I have it from a very knowledgeable source that the course was also a bit short--not terribly short, but still...

"It was a tough course to run, and I would estimate the times were about a minute slower than they normally might have been," said coach Mike Howard. "We changed our strategy after seeing the men's race, because it was a hard course to make up any ground on if you started conservatively. --SLU women's coach on the race at Hamilton. By the look of the pics it was pretty muddy. A minute seems a bit much, maybe for the 8km course it was a minute. Either way it shows that SLU wasn't racing all out, and probably ran hard once they knew they were out of it.

1. What source of yours told you the course was short in 07 ?

2. Kopnicki will be on that line in 5+days. You dont come back for a 5th year and not give it a go. They are not deep and he will be a top 5 guy for them, though not the 1-2 punch they could have had.

3. SLU didnt run a kenyan, hurt or smart, either way makes loss to UR useless.

4. UR is not good, not matter how much some of you want to lick their balls. If they come in top 10, some people should be embarrassed.

5. Ithaca and Platts, will not be top 5. The top 3-4 are far and away from everyone else when they run like they can/should. TCNJ has to much pride to lose to them, and will be up by alot after 2 runners across. SLU should be smelling ncaa's after last year, they know they should be there, and on their home course in front of all their friends from the dorms, it would a real shittin of the bed for them not to run well.
