This is another big development above regarding Pete Kostelnak and Rob Belanger’s relationship. No wonder Pete is so adamantly defending Goodge in this thread and on the FB page. Keeps getting stranger and more incestuous.
This is like ultra’s version of Watergate. It’s going to a Woodward AND Bernstein to crack this. We have Woodward in Will C, but no Bernstein. We’ve tried to engage Laz as Bernstein, but he’s declined as the world record isn’t bring challenged so he doesn’t care. Who is going to step up as Bernstein?

Please contact Rojo and ask why he hasn’t commented in this thread. There is surely something strange going on.
Will, your report states that these HR anomalies only occur when WGs does a big multiday fundraiser and is fine otherwise. Rather than take this at face value i've had a look at some random weeks in WGs strava history and I don't believe this is an accurate statement. His HR data is regularly flawed and doesn't make much sense on a number of his day to day training runs where he records HR data
As example:
8th May 2022: HR good for 1 mile. then plummets for 2miles, then picks back up for the remainder of the run.
25th May 2022: WG does a track session of what looks like 9x200m sprints with 200 jog recovery. His HR 'pattern' is ok, but the numbers are way off. His HR maxes out at 120-130bpm when doing his 200m sprints (at 4:27/mile pace!), then plummets to 90-100bpm on his 200m jog recoveries.
4th June 2022: A very hilly run. HR data all over the place. It has a pattern of significantly dropping when hes going UPHILL! - down as low as the mid 90s.
...And I could go on.
Can you review the above examples and offer your view on whether you see these as normal or not, vs what he is currently doing now. As your whole theory relies upon a pattern of Multiday events=bad data. Anything in between=good data.
For the record, i'm indifferent as to whether cheating is or isn't going on. I appreciate the work and effort you have put into this and raising its attention for scrutiny. My only issue is the principle focus is bad HR data and associated patterns, which i don't think is as clear cut as its been made out to be.

Wow, that is really interesting! Normal runs...wild heartrates! Perhaps WG doesn't really care about HR readings because he is more focused on the runs themselves. Go back to pre-"super tech" watches...people ran based on pace and feel. Even with all of the tech, there are runners who STILL go on pace and feel. All the other 100+ metrics don't matter to them. Thanks for this extra analysis...and for it being written in an objective form. That is refreshing.

This is ridiculous. Pete is NOT adamantly defending this runner. He's arguing that the HR data is not enough, on its own, to discredit the runner. Pete is 100% correct.
Y'all need to get better evidence to hang your collective hats on. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if the runner is simply throwing up bad data to mess with you.
he defends the amazing paces too, saying they're easy and nothing special, when history tells us the opposite. WG was at his best during the super low HR yesterday. Dodgy morning, trouble-free middle 24 miles at the super low HR, and pretty tortuous finish.
This is the only way to be sure, but, who has the time for that, for this?
At the end of the day, if the guy is "cheating", what does it really matter? Isn't he really only taking money from people who are stupid enough to donate to these ridiculous runs. Any person who would donate money to any of these charlatans get the exact punishment they deserve for being stupid - they lose their money. It's just a stupidity fine.
That is truly crass! Anything that can be done to get people to donate to something they wouldn't otherwise donate to is not stupid. Runs of any kind that raise money for charity, whether it be someone running a half marathon to raise money for Crohn's Disease (like me and hundreds of people I know), or running a 24 hour run to raise money for 3 different charities, are helping to support those causes. I know for an absolute fact that people have donated to my various efforts that told me they donated be they were inspired to do so...and wouldn't have otherwise. So, please don't call runs to raise money ridiculous. That is insensitive and rude.

Almost 50 pages of nothing more than bad heart rate data. It just isn’t enough to declare he is cheating. I haven’t seen a single plausible explanation for how he is cheating. The rest of the data including cadence looks right. Maybe he is taking a beta blocker at lunch. Or more likely he is doing something like wearing the watch over clothing or too loose the second part of the run.
Seriously, this thread is a nothing burger until there is something other than bad heart rate data.
On the other side we have “records” from the 60s and 70s that are basically just “trust me bro” verified.
