As a MIC old head, I think it’s impressive the Oles have a dominant XC team, but also have four 800 runners racing on the national level that are not contributing in XC. That says a lot about their program whether you like it or not. And equally impressive is how much some of those guys have improved. Similarly, the Johnnie’s miler appears to have made incredible progress in just three years. I don’t think anyone would project him to be at this level when looking at high school results. Kudos to those coaches. I was worried with the Tommies leaving the league pile not be as competitive. Just think of the current Tommies were still in the MIAC. I don’t think 1:53 would score! And the MIAC DMR would be so exciting. Their times from their conference meet would have won most MIAC events which I imagine would have raised the bar for current MIC teams.
