No you can't. Any mention of any other team having a chance was quickly shut down by the few vocal NC State bullies. Nobody said OK State would dominate. A few said the had a chance. Some of the NC State fans had 5 in the top 20.

I certainly don’t think they’ll have 5 in the top-10 by any stretch of the imagination now. However, I do still feel they will win. I often feel that teams at times do a bit of “mind-gaming”: tricking folks and the competition to believe they’re in dire straits, only to bring out the “ringer(s)” and/or “true performances” on national race day.

Sorry, I didn't mean that as an attack towards you and your post...but the anti-NcState posts in general. Your points are well taken.

I agree completely on Starliper....her participation is needed by NC, and hopefully she has been able to keep in shape through this.

ND is a dark horse...I love the strategy they used at ACC's, but I think it is much less effective at Nats....but I would love to see them do well...and their top 4 can be sneaky good.

OSU has really jumped becuase of Jepkirui, just as ALA has jumped because of Olemomoi. OSUs 4th is the question, and ALA 4/5 the same.

NM to me is a lock for second, and would have to underperform to do any worse. Any faltering by NCst opens the door for them.

Again, this thread has been fairly even. Most of the so called 'bullies' are defending constant slags against Tuohy. There are a few NC posters that were calling for big wins, just as there have the same on the other side.

There were very few NC fans agreeing with those calling for a easy victory for NC...and others clearly saying the opposite. But again, just as many OSU fans were likely posting on here as NC fans were.

Will any NM runners make top 10? Samree Dishon maybe? She was confident after nuttycombe, in the runnerspace interview.

NM is just sneaky good. Personally I do not expect top 10, but would not be surprised to see one in there. Certainly 2 or 3 in the top 20, and quite possible all 5 in the top 30. In my mind, that is where Bush will try to put herself inside the top 3 of NM, and Starliper / Seymour try to key on the 4/5 runners.

We also tend to give mega-nods to other teams. Most of us are “students of the sport” and acknowledge the performances and strengths of others.

Here’s a different example of a completely different race and different competitor of giving credit where it is due, etc.

Chelangat - title contender. Yes Valby beat her but I am not totally ruling her out.

Olemomoi - TSR has her at #20, but I wonder if she should be higher. She's been #3 behind Chelangat twice.

Tyynismaa- very talented runner. Currentl TSR #22 but was 3rd overall in 2020! I heard on these boards she was injured and was still working her way back last spring. Does anyone have more detail?

Weaker 4/5 with Machan & Asekol . Asekol not as strong as last year but still looking good. I wonder if she was injured as well.

Agree on both Tyynismaa and Asekol...both have tremendous upside if healthy.

Valby won't be top 5

Tuohy, McCabe, chmiel, roe, mercy, possibly others will beat her! Cook won't be top 10!

OSU has almost no chance with a weak 5! NC state and new Mexico too close to call!

I agree with you MFS...Valby is an xfactor....she could be first, or 25th if she burns herself out.

I like your top 5 though...and I also expect cook around 10th....maybe even less
