I can sum up this whole thread really well.
"almost everyone ran PRs, and some of the fastest times ever were run here. Three kids went under the fastest time ever run and also had the second fastest girls performer"
"That seems suspicious, we should get the course measured to make sure it's accurate and actually 5000m"
"Oh, there's no need. The meet director said they measured the course so we can just believe them"
"Isn't there some inherent bias there? wouldn't the meet director benefit from having a short course to attract more racers and in turn, more money"
"That can't ever be possibly true, it's definitely 5000m"
"well we should use steel tape to prove it's 5000m, that's definitively the most accurate way to measure an XC course"
"That's ok, there's GPS data to prove it's 5000m"
"But GPS isn't accurate to the degree we're looking for"
"But they say it's 5000m, so they must be telling the truth"
Honestly, this is mirroring political debate today. If the damn course is accurate you shouldn't have a problem with a third party measuring it! End of story!
Leonn for the win! It really is that simple!
