Anybody on site and wheel the thing? Watching theres results come in and seems impossible.
LRC note. We have an article up on it now.

The course is super flat. It's rare for the best in the country to run on such a cross country course. Usually cross country courses have hills, etc.

The course is not super flat. It isn't crazy hilly, but there is definitely some undulation. The low point to the high point on the course is about 50 feet
This shows the course is short. The GPS measurement should be 3.13 or so if it were an accurate 5k. GPS always measures short compared to measured courses.

I stand corrected. Wonder if the surface is harder than most XC courses?
This explains how much better Ritz's 14:10 was:

If you think about the fact that they ran sub 13:40 at the beginning of the season, it's not that hard to understand. It's the first meet they had competition
Heard a report of a coach there who wheeled it as 75 meters short. Whatever the distance, can we just stop with the emphasis on times in xc already???
Unless they're way off (i.e. 3.01 or something), GPS and strava segments are not accurate enough to determine if the course is long or short.

any idea if he wheeled the center, SPR, or STs?
2 people I follow on strava both got 3.16 (silver race)

..,so since Ritz ran 13:44 on the track in HS, should we expect Hough to only run in the 14:2X?

I would contend none of them have 5k PR 13:40 or faster.
This course has been wheeled to death. It’s a real 5k. We live in a town with the highest per capita population of engineers. We know how to measure an build things. I know that seems shocking.
Well according to the course designer the first mile is downhill, and the third mile is essentially downhill after a brief rise. Plus it is designed to be wide and not to have features such as turns or sharp bumps that kill momentum. And the surface is short grass. It is by design a super fast course.
Former golf course. Surface is entire golf course faraway.

Maybe, but if it was measured so well I would hav expected the splits to make sense. Announcers said they were 4:30 at the mile, 9:40 at 2 miles, which would have the running roughly 3:56 last mile to get to 14:04. Same problem on the girls side, 5:12, 11:00, 4:28 last mile. Alabama no measure so good.
The official 2nd split was 2.1 miles.
The timer was set up at 1 mile, 2.1 and finish. But thanks for belittling Alabama. Well done.
