I don’t see Tuohy being competitive with Valby ever again, unless Valby is coming off an injury, or has a really bad day. Tuohy will not doubt improve some, but i think she started to plateau nearly two years ago. She’s been very competitive for a long time, which is difficult to maintain, and her body is not responding well to the additional stress.

Valby hasn’t improved much either, over the last 2 years, and not at all, since XC last fall. Tuohy has a significant advantage in middle distance speed, which could give her an advantage at 5000m. As far as injuries go, I don’t think Valby will necessarily be less prone to having them.

Tuohy's top end speed means that she has higher top time potential in the 5000m, and she ran 15:03 during a rut. I don't think she is near maxxed out, whereas Valby just might be. The difference right now is Valby has an odd immunity to getting fatigued. She never seems to have tired legs. But it is also interesting that her repeated max efforts are all within the same narrow zone.

She has been injured and only started training consistently in May. Lets see things a few months down the line. But similar sentiments were echoed early in her college career. Her 3000m record is still better than anything Valby has run.

She has terrible form.

Lots and lots of Tuohy fans still want to come on here and keep talking crap in the hope their fantasies will want to come true….

So now that Valby is clearly the better runner, Tuohy fan goes stupid trying to find something wrong with a Valby interview, then run to this board and tell the world how they feel about it.

Tuohy is too injury prone to ever be able become elite.

Addy Wiley has the most 5k potential because she is faster than Valby or Tuohy at the 1500.

Anyone who says Valby didn't improve since December is not taking account of the fact that it was about 80 degrees at the start of her race.

Yes bc Tuohy will never run faster than 15:33 again. Lol. Didn't she basically run that as high school sophomore? Never seen somone immediately written off this many times. I guess we will see. Again.

In the field of 16 in the 5000 at the Trials, only 4 runners ran the last kilometer faster than any of their previous 4 kilometers. St. Pierre, Cranny, Schweizer and Valby.
