i'm still on the fence about home ownership...i'm onto my second home right now.
lots of different advice, i know people the leverage up and buy way more house than i think would be prudent and end up getting lucky and selling itt for a huge profit.
i know others that buy reasonable and go bankrupt.
the biggest piece of advice i can give you is try not to be anything that has any sort of WATER issues.
my first home had water issues and its a nightmare, sump pumps, french drains, mold, rot, stress every time it rains. I would advise giong to check the house when its raining and check for ANY possible issues.
ive had sleepless nights and written big checks. its no fun.

There is such a big downside to renting right now with everyone selling their condos and the renters get displaced. Homeownership isn't perfect but at least in general only you decide when you move.
