Temple recommend interviews are voluntary. The member asks for an appointment. From an active member who doesn't hate the Church.
There is NO pressure to pay tithing. There is encouragement to keep all commandments including tithing. Big difference! I believe God keeps his promises and he promised he would bless those who keep the law of tithing. See Malachi 3:8-12.
Not that I'm judging you, your writings judge themselves, but you have proven yourself to be an untruthful, biased and disingenuous poster.
The temple recommend is absolutely mandatory for entrance to the temple, whether the interview is voluntary or not. Don't volunteer for the interview and you ain't getting into that temple. There is MASSIVE pressure to give 10% of every hard earned dollar towards the $100 billion sitting dormant in the bank. Of the seven or so billion dollars in profit that the LDS accumulates every single year, they give far less than 1% to charity.
As far as following the commandments, JSmith the very founder of this scheme was serially guilty of at least four. Do not covet your neighbors' wives, at least 27 of them. Do not commit adultery. Do not kill. Do not steal.
You seem to be obsessed with the tithing commandment, placing it above all others, which is in line with LDS. Maybe that is because this thread stresses tithing.
What about the commandments of Jesus?
Do not store up treasures on Earth - certainly not $100 billion. Matt. 6-19.
Do not worry about your needs - certainly don't hoard massive amounts of food in your basement. Matt. 6-25.
Do not worry about tomorrow - again with the hoarding. Matt. 6-34.
Do not judge - well, to be judgmental (I don't claim to be faithful), this is something that you definitely need to work on after you called several honest posters liars. Matt. 7-1.
Care for those in distress - use a whopping lot more (or even just a teensy bit more) of that $100 billion tax free moolah to feed and clothe the poor. Matt. 25-34.
Watch out for false prophets - this one is beyond laughable for any LDS. Matt. 7-15.
Do not exalt yourself - don't call yourself bishop or prophet or elder or general leader. Matt. 23-8.
Do not oppose other Christian groups - or in the case of the LDS, Christian groups. Mark 9-38.
Love one another - don't hate other races and faiths, don't claim that blacks are the spawn of the devil. John 15-12.
I realize that all of these are New Testament commandments. The general impression and evidence is that LDS doesn't follow the New Testament and doesn't believe in what Jesus says. Therefore, you are quite forgiven for rejecting anything that Jesus preached. Or if not for totally rejecting Jesus but just selectively following what is variably found convenient by the LDS leader.
