While we are waiting for the danes to dominate athletics, have a look at the latest athletics rankings from IAAF.
Of the top 100 male athletes in the Nordics (see, I've included you now), your best athlete is 19.., and you have a whopping 6 in the top 100..
For comparison Norway has 28 in the top 100, 9 of them ranked higher than the best dane..
You have more than Iceland though, they have 2. Not bad. (Of course, you are way closer to Iceland than any other nordic country)
(Finland has about the same as Norway, and Sweden as you can imagine, even more)
If you sort for the whole world instead (you don't really want to do that if you want to keep your delusion of danish dominance); Highest ranked dane is number 519 in the world.. the ONLY dane in the top 1000.
In the top 1000 in the world, the ratio is about 1:10 compared to the BIG 3 nordic countries (maybe slightly less for Finland)
On the Women's side, you're doing slightly better. Your highest ranked athlete is number 8, and you have 9 in the top 100.
Of the top 1000 athletes in the world, you have 2.
For comparison, Norwegian female athletes are kind of sucks at the moment, but still have 2 higher placed than the best dane and with 18 athletes in the Nordic top 100.
6 Norwegian athletes in the top 1000 in the world.
Sweden and Finland are obviously stronger than Norway amongst the women.
So here too, you're closer to Iceland than any other nordic country.
Given that you didn't bother to mention Iceland as a nordic country yourself, and that the stats says you are just a little bit better than Iceland in athletics, you can surely understand that other non-danish people forget that Denmark is nordic in the context of athletics?
I have to thank IAAF for remembering that you are a Nordic country, so we can look at these lists,
but you don't need to thank me for the above summary either. Always a pleasure to help!
