His amount of outward success doesn't justify anything at all, he's just rationalizing his race to lose any respect he's had. It's sad that he feels what's best for his image, which he clearly rates as highly important, is to fall on his own sword. I hope he finds the help he needs before it's too late.

Since the other thread got deleted...he does nothing but tweet other people’s ideas, scientific statements without sources, and absolute truths that he’ll contradict the very next day. Oh, and supposedly he reads like a book every single day. As far as this thread is concerned, he coaches absolutely no one at this point.
If only jmar was the coach of any elite distance runner ever, they would be much better because he wouldn’t have them run over 70 minutes. Bekele was wasting his time doing long runs and could’ve run 12:15 in the 5k had he been coached by jmar

I was subscribed to he and Magness' Polymath mailing list a couple years ago. In every training schedule of Marcus coached athletes there is at least one and most of the time 2 runs of greater than 80 minutes each week. Even his 800m runners.
It's starting to feel more and more like he's just trolling or grasping at relevance by being shocking. A little scary to think some people might be taking him seriously at this moment.
The dude is just a serious hipster and doesn’t want to do what everyone else is doing just for the sake of being different. He’s had several tweets about conventional methods leading to conventional results, and saying that you should be unconventional to beat them.
You know what jmar? In regards to training, at some point conventional is best because of all the research out there, and everyone wants to do the best thing. At that point, it’s about optimizing everything to be better with the same methods. Go ahead, use your unconventional methods to get unconventional results, which happen to be worse than the conventional results just because you want to be different.
