Obiri way back. Trying to ruine my fantasy meet.

Women's 3000 was a great race with Caroline Kipkirui just getting past Agnes Tirop in the final meters after a great battle (8:29.05 to 8:29.09). Jenny Simpson ran a tough race and took the lead twice in the last couple laps, but didn't have enough in the final 200m (she was 4th in 8:30.83). Obiri just cratered with just under 800 to go and fell way back finishing 14th in 8:53.

8:30 = 9:08 for 2 miles so good progression for Jenny

Kszczot must be completely out of shape right now. He'll probably be ready to roll in a month or so.

Simpson lead with 300 to go but with around 200 to go really lost momentum. Not sure if she got tripped or what.

Caroline Kipkirui came up late to edge Agne Tirop. Tirop pushed her to lane 3 to finish. Kipkurui ran 1:05:07 at the RAK half this year.Not sure why she didn't run Kenyan champs last year but she ran 14:27 for 5k as well and won Falmouth.

You could tell the last 700 she went to the front to string it out as they were bunching up but once it sped back up she let a few pass her so she wouldn't have to lead the whole rest of the way I'm assuming. Whereas we usually see her stay right behind/with the lead pack and unleash her fury the last 300meters, I wonder if she saw the 3000m AR slipping away and wanted to encourage the pack to get back to it. 8:30 is phenomenal, just off her PR so early in the season. 6 all time? Is there anyone in US who is even close, perhaps Shelby Houlihan?

Jenny's on the startlist for Pre 1500. Certainly she is in sub 4 shape but it will be natural to talk about whether she will challenge the AR. If you remember last year, it really took her a lot more time to round into form throughout the season as she had a slower start. If anything , this is hopefully very promising of what is to come.

I think we have to take this year with a grain of salt. I'm not expecting anything big. There are no championships this year, so runners might just used this season for training.

I know one thing the women's hurdles is INSANELY STACKED, and Brianna Rollins is back from suspension and looks good as hell

generally, mid-distance/distance runners don't run very fast early in the year in non WC or olympic years.

This is a joke right? She is a world champion (arguably two times), and she has medaled almost every major championship she has competed in. Besides that, I believe both of them had the fastest PRs coming to the race. You’re not that stupid, El Keniano! Get it together!

Thanks for the share! I would love to see Jenny take a crack at Rowbury's 5k AR record this year. She's always been so incredibly versatile that it would be a shame to not see her try to give it a shot this year when there's more flexibility. Anyone think there's a chance she'll race 5k?

I'd also love to see what she could do on the roads for half/full but we'll probably never see her do that in her professional career.

Looking at that list, most of those times were run in August or September. To be running this fast in May the week after a race in the US is pretty outstanding.

Good last lap by Beyo, he took the lead before the bell and maitained it.

Lots of runours regarding El Bakaali. Doubt we see a race from him this year.
