First of all, overtraining is physical, while burnout is mental. So for you to accuse someone of either, you'd either have their training logs and medical history or know the runner on a personal level. It's clear you don't know either, so I'm not sure why you're trying to speak for them.

Why do you think something needs to change? These are kids. Let them run however they see fit. We can guide them, sure, but what you propose is helicopter-controlling them. No one wants that. Let them make their own mistakes (within reason, of course.)

Right, they are kids, let's train them like kids and let them enjoy HS without adding pressure of national competitions and workouts that are crazy hard.

Sadly I will say this and it will probably get deleted: Anyway, I'm saying it at 1:57 PM EST on December 8, 2017. In 6 years neither Lane or Tuohy will have finished top 10 in NCAA XC or all american in NCAA Track or will they be medal contending pros. You all will be asking what happened to them. My answer then will be because someone just "let them run how they saw fit" when they are younger.

Lane definitely did not race "long into the summer". Her last race was June 17th, which was 4 days before summer even began. She did one invitational two weeks after the CA state meet and I believe that's it. I wouldn't be as concerned with her training hard and running fast as I would with her getting so lean at such a young age. Athletic amenhorrea can cause a lot of problems later on.

When someone's head no longer fits their body they are generally at high risk of future overtraining, burnout, or whatever you want to call it.

Since we don't have a 'true' national championship race, looking at Footlocker and NXN and comparing girls who ran both, seems that yes, Katelyn Tuohy would be about 30 seconds faster than Claudia Lane, closer than anyone else has been all season.

The funny thing is that you probably thought that both would be mediocre by now. But instead you got extremes - one is great and one disappeared.

Hey, I have an idea. Since Tuohy hasn't raced in over a month and there are less than 10 threads on the front page, how about we bump meaningless Tuohy threads from six years ago? Maybe you can bump some meaningless Nicole Blood threads from 20 years ago while you're at it. I heard she may be leaving Saratoga and moving to the west coast! Scandalous!

LOL this is prediction is hilarious! As for Lane, she seemed like a really cool person and I hope she is successful with whatever she is doing now with school or career.

Somewhere on LR there was another prediction I remember that KT wouldn’t ever even make NC State’s top 5 in XC. I’ll try to find that post. Just for laughs.
