Thanks...I gather Lake Biwa is a regional race? Seems pretty competitive over in Japan.

Looked up the race. I see it is an IAAF race with a 2:30 qualifer. Men's only, too. Lots of good marathoners in Japan.

He said he runs back and forth to work. About 34km a day in total. 700km a month.
He also ditched the watch in races and runs by feel.
And he does hot and cold baths, immediately after his races. 2mins alternating.
