You Americans are being extremely biased. Andrews always sprints at the end...and he was in a bad position. He FORCED himself through a tight spot impeding a bit with the other runner. It was his own fault for stepping out.
I like Andrews and know he is good enough to be in the final...but good lord...this appeal crap is crazy this year. He broke the rules...he should be out.

This is the head on angle. Robby clearly had an opening in this view. His body was past the Ethiopian runner. There was contact and he stepped out and back in.

They will really look like hypocrites if they let Andrews in after the Kemboi dq. granted, running inside the rail on a bend versus the straight is different, but not in the rule book.
makes no sense to say he didn't get an advantage. he didn't run a shorter distance than running straight ahead but running straight ahead was not available to him at that point. he gained an advantage by not having to stutter step and move to the right to get around the guy ahead of him, which was the only legal path available to him. i'd call that an advantage
That video appears to show a bit of shoulder brushing just as Andrews passes, which I think would be enough to suggest that there was not enough space to pass and contact was initiated by Andrews

It is different in the rule book. Kemboi ran less than the full length according to them (psh..). Andrews didn't actually take the shortest path. The argument is if he was pushed out or if he tried to gain material advantage when he went out of bounds.

If the photo for the Kemboi DQ was accurate, it was barely on the bend, and the previous cone would still definitely have been on the water jump straight.
The rules DO distinguish the cases.
3. (a) in all races run in lanes, each athlete shall keep within his allocated lane from start to finish. this shall also apply to any portion of a race run in lanes.

This is the angle showed on NBC TV.
As the streaming was winding up, they showed a better overhead head-on angle.
It's at 4:24:38 mark of tonight's feed.

All, the way to look at this is by watching the Ethiopians feet. They are towards the outside of the lane. When Andrews is about even with him, the Ethiopian looks left, and then moves inside, forcing Andrews off the track. His feet tell the whole story that he tried to cut Andrews off.
Still Andrews' fault though for putting himself in that position.

But did he PASS on the infield or was he past the Ethiopian runner when he stepped into the infield to maintain his balance? We shall see.
The Ethiopians feet are almost directly in the middle. Andrews drops his shoulder to sneak through and when his shoulder comes back, contact was made. There was not enough room to get through there.
The Ethiopian's head turning is kind of telling. Robby doesn't go off the track until after Gebremedhin looks left. Before that it looked like Robby had a clear path along the rail, looking at it from the head on angle.

Note: Material advantage includes improving his position by any means, including removing himself from a “boxed†position in the race by having stepped or run inside the inside edge of the track.
This is the conditions for DQ if stepping inside the track on a straight. It seems obvious but there's the official documentation.
Honestly looked like Andrews was obstructed, was definitely not completely boxed behind the Ethiopian
