Seriously, why is everyone so excited? It's not like this kid ran a world class marathon time or something. Can we just stop with the track already?

Everyone is excited because when you watch him run you see a gangly young 18 year old with perfect form running times good enough to make the USATF 800m final, good enough to get into diamond league meets.

It is clear this kid is an amazing talent.

Anytime you have a guy who can split 46 low or 45 high run 4:0x in the mile as a HS 800 runner, you really have something.

I caution many to remember that Andrews had run 4:03 in HS and 1:48 and ran 1:44.7x early on in his college career and has never run faster at 800M.Yet has run 3:34.

Brazier, who just turned 19 on April 15, won his heat in 1:45.07, over a second ahead of 2nd place in the heat and .4 faster than McBride for fastest overall (Walker won the other heat) . This was a .86 pr from Brazier. He did not need to run that fast and might have sapped some strength for the final, but that is an incredible time for a freshman and if there's more in the tank, this should be a very fast final with Brazier and two 1:44 guys.

Brazier just ran 1:43.5

Someone correct me if that isn't a US leading time

You're correct. It's nothing like 1:43.55

The former is a potential Rio medalist time

The later is slower than the standard to "participate" in Rio.

Fisher is so much better from mile to 5,000

A Rio medalist?? In a fast race, in perfect conditions, a mid-1:43 would likely put you in aprox last place. See London 2012.

Fisher's time makes him number 3 American junior all time. 5000m running requires more maturity than 800m running. Best of luck to both of them.

Don't knock Fisher's 13:30. But Brazier's 1:43 is worth about a 13:05 from Fisher to equal.

London 2012 is literally the only 800 in history where 1:43.5 would put you in last place.

Let me know where it says Zika causes symptoms in adult men that contract it.

Also, let me know what the weather was in London in that 800m final. Temp doesn't effect shorter races like it does a 5/10k.

Actually it wouldn't. Andrew Osagie ran 1:43.77 for last. So no 800s ever would 1:43.55 put you in last.
