Syracuse wins today after the beat down they took from the ducks. Looks like the ducks and colorado are leaps and bounds ahead of any team in the country and it is not even close

ducks are probably 4th in the country. Not bad.

Pac 12s and the West Regional meet should both be very interesting.

Providence had Armstrong as their 2nd man just 10 seconds behind Oakley last week at NE's - maybe he did not recover well enough from that race and Treacy rested him? If you "plug" him in 10 seconds behind Oakley you pick up 60-70 spots and they finish around Washington. Better - bit not really competitive.

Yeah it's definitely going to be interesting to see how they do at NCAAs. No team has won NCAAs without a top-10 individual since Colorado in 2006, and most NCAA title teams have. Syracuse might be a year away from truly contending but it's possible Hehir or Knight blossoms into a top-10 type in the future.

Fox wasn't concerned about their loss to Oregon at Beantown. Cuse always comes on at the end of the season.

I meant to say "most NCAA teams have two guys capable of finishing in the top 15 -- Syracuse may not even have one." Didn't quite finish that thought.

That being said, I'd think they are a year away from having the type of team you are talking about. THey've only got one senior in the top 7 so next year they could have that type of team, but Oregon and Colorado seem to be a step above everyone.

Don't get me wrong, Syracuse's performance was special today.

But a top 2 team like Oregon has so much room for error. Races are a bell curve. The top 10 guys at NCAAs are way better than everyone else. Cheserek can run awful and still finish 10th. Same thing with Jenkins.

But Syracuse has little margin for error.

IF their top 5 today ran just 10 seconds per man slower, guess how many points they score?

Now Coloraod does well with the pack running but it's hard to be top 2 without some big stars. Knight has that potential but he's only a frosh.

I hope the Cuse prove me wrong and get there this year, not next.

Remember that team that won the Addidas Invite in 2010? Finished 14th that year. After that? 14th. After that? 15th...

Syracuse looks really excellent at this point in the season, but there's plenty of room for doubt.

Both of their meets so far have been slow races through 5-6k,. You can have great team scores in that kind of race by packing up near the front and holding that position. But in a fast race like nats where things are spread out, there can be a lot more points between the low sticks and your pack, and a lot more points breaking up your pack.

As a side note, without the kenyans in these races to go out hard, the guys up front are really pussing out with this jog-and-kick crap.

what on earth has Haney done to indicate he'd beat CU's top guys??

One top athlete running poorly each of those years (thus eliminating them from podium potential) isn't exactly foreseeable. If you would like me to break that down, I'd gladly do so.
