The others with a shot are Hall, Teg, Abdi, and Curtis. Hall, Teg, and Abdi are all multiple time Olympians and they know how to make teams. Curtis is very talented but chokes at US Championships.

It will be very difficult for a Ward, Eggleson, Arciniaga, Gotcher etc. darkhorse runner to beat the big talents. It rarely happens. Brian Sell is the only example I can think of recently.

Still has a chance. By your logic Meb wouldn't have had a chance of accomplishing much of his most renowned accolades. I don't want to argue semantics anymore, but if you're listing 10 guys that have a chance, he is one of them. I guess if you are saying that only 4-5 guys have a shot, then you could argue leaving him off that shortlist.

Fernando Cabada is a slow starter. Fernando Cabada is more capable for racing walk.

Teg and Curtis suck at the marathon, and Hall and Abdi haven't shown their worth in the marathon in 3+ years.

I would take any of these guys over the guys above because marathon predicts marathon. These guys have what it takes in the marathon.

I agree but would say that glass bones Ritz and an aged Meb might be slightly more likely to be injured than others. But if they are healthy, they are in.

I would say we will have a good idea who the third is by the end of the year.
