the woman in 17th place is interesting, annemarie sandell hyvairnen in 1996 as a junior she ran 8:48 for 3000, 14:56 for 5000 and 31:40 for 10000, she never bettered her junior times, she is now age 36.

1:13 off world record pace, even in the humidity.

It's true. I found the times suspicious last year.

But look at the course. Perfectly, perfectly flat, flawless road conditions, almost no turns (aside from that one hairpin). I think there's no question the course is faster than Berlin, Frankfurt, Rotterdam et al.

I love how British announcers pronounce the name of this distance: "marath'n," with the emphasis on the first syllable. I also like their pronunciation of a time never run before: a "world reck-oaaaaaaaaaaaard!" with the second syllable comically drawn out.

Course is definitely Rupp Certified.

Could we see 7 2:04s? I doubt it but 7 are still in lead pack at 34km. Crazy.

Everything in WR range has been between 40 and 50 F. Considering this plus the humidity, 2:04:xx will be superb. And then you factor in the uneven pacing and it's quite a performance.

Was anyone noteworthy running the 10k?
