Sure, and that's pathetic. A good number of them will also sit around comparing standardized test scores like mediocre runners comparing VO2max scores and weekly mileage tallies, eking out a certain limited glory in competitions of little consequence. But others, who are perhaps more motivated, self-critical, supported, or enlightened, will figure out ways in which to overcome or maneuver aound their handicaps, pursuing strategies and finding occupations that maximize their talents and minimize their deficiencies.

Why are you misquoting me?
Please take us through how you spend your time after school and how many hours a day you set aside for homework and studying. HS is all about effort: there are very few concepts or content which requires anything beyond average IQ.
In some classes, simply being organized, on time and completing the work will get you an A. In other courses, there might be more content and work required. In higher level math courses you need to follow or memorize processes and practice them which takes time; foreign languages are similar and require some effort. English and History usually require average comprehension with good writing skills to attain the best grades, but all of this is possible with practice and increased effort. You need to participate in class and grading by teachers can be subjective at times, but they generally reward hard workers and people who pay attention. None of this requires a high IQ, nor would any of this be a problem for someone with a high IQ.
bump
I consider myself someone of normal intelligence. I took 4 honors classes and 2 Advanced Placement courses my last semester of high school and earned a 4.5 GPA. You don't need to be smart to pass or excel in school. All you need to do is put forth some effort, focus, and take care of business.
If you're struggling in high school, don't pick a Science major in College. You will get owned.
I'm an 8th grade 13 years old, and I have an IQ of 137 so I can relate.
I'm failing 2 classes right now It's just my time management I believe. To much time on the computer. Hell i'm skipping school right now at home typing this. xD
My IQ was tested by MENSA as an early teen and it was high.
However, I believe those tests are almost worthless.
I wish I had never had it done.
They stated I was in the top 1 in 2000 (this was an official written test organised through my high school via the headteacher).
I've completely made a mess of my life (partly due to circumstance but even so) and the IQ result just makes me feel more guilty.
There's no point having all the brains in the world if you struggle with other stuff.
Looking back I'm amazed I even made it through high school.
I also think IQ may change over time. I certainly don't feel as bright as I did back then, but I did have a head injury in later years so who knows?
I really wish I'd never known the stupid number and the pressure.
You are not made for written timed tests. You need to show your skills in an informal setting or give a short lecture to show your grasp of the material. American education is bullshit too. Consider studying in Europe.

I'm going through the same thing. My teachers always get mad at me because I have a difficult time doing homework and class work, even though I also have a high iq. People always think that if you have a high iq, you're super smart and everything in the world should be as easy as breathing to you or else you're fake. But that's not true. We struggle in the type of environment that school has because it has us prove what we learn through impractical ways that our brain has trouble processing. Trust me, you're not alone.

I have abilities at the 99.6 percentile, and I have people telling me that I'm "slow." At this point, I'm beginning to doubt that I'm half as intelligent as the Wechsler test indicates. Tell me somebody can relate????
Did the professional who administered the test provide any analysis of the results?
My son (unfortunately now deceased) had a lot of difficulty in his early primary years, leading to us having him tested, both at school (by the special education teacher) and by an outside psychologist. The school was determined that he had ADHD (which possibly he had), but the WISC-III showed that while his intelligence was off the charts (>99.9%ile), there were some important differences in the sub-scores, suggestive of a particular learning style (visual-spatial) and the possibility of some learning difficulties, in spite of outrageous, precocious intelligence.
He managed to muddle through grade school and high school, but never with marks indicative of his intelligence, except in course where he had a deep interest (in which case he usually dumbfounded his teachers with his unusual insights).
If I were you and your parents, and if I had the means (money) to do so, I might consider seeking some outside professional advice, to look for a better indication of your learning abilities and limitations, and inclinations / interests, to help you make better choices about your learning path.
Good luck!

IQ is like the 40yard dash time in the NFL combine.
It's only one measurement of one set of tools and no guarantee of success.
It's what you do with that speed that counts.
You have 4.4 speed, which is adequate, but why aren't you picking up any yards on the field?
Figure that out or that 4.4 speed is worthless.
There's a danger is sitting back and thinking that your IQ will magically solve everything for you. Nope.
Figure out your weaknesses, why your high IQ isn't directly translating to the success you want. No one else will.
Boys vs. girls with high IQs are at a huge disadvantage in public schools because they generally lack the desire to please others, whether it be genetically or culturally-infused. This trait tends to keep high IQ girls focused and driven despite extreme boredom, frustration and lack of interest. Very intelligent boys often act out in the classroom when they are young which can lead to other behavior problems. This eventually evolves into frustration and anger as they get older causing them to ignore their studies in an act of rebellion or just tune out. Non-mainstream schools and/or all-boy schools are good alternatives for such kids. Parents need to learn how to spot these issues themselves, as the schools often punish and/or label these kids with disorders like ADHD, oppositional defiant disorders to pigeon hole and quell them. Public schools can be torture chambers for very intelligent kids.

Maybe you should hold yourself to a higher standard and stop giving yourself an easy pass, especially if your teachers don't. What if the task were to persuade rather than to merely demonstrate? Wechsler, shmechsler!

That's almost as impressive as this board's Rebuttal Jones, a possible legacy admission to Harvard. He has a low IQ, is extraordinarily rude and poor grammatically. But he has a Harvard shingle, probably with honors, like nearly all Harvard grads.
