Bro, I think the person you're too hard on is yourself. You look down on people who eat junk food and you are seeing a counselor for BDD. I'd put money down that these things are related. I suspect you are externalizing your issues, i.e. you have a really complicated relationship to food and your body, and when you see other people do unhealthy things, it taps into that mess. I once dated a girl with an eating disorder. The disgust and revulsion in her eyes as she watched me eat pizza was chilling.

Two unrelated pieces of advice: 1) The Asperger spectrum is quite broad, you may be high-functioning and nonetheless have some asperger's traits/tendencies; in that case a professional can literally teach you how to empathize with other people and 2) never publicly label yourself as mature. It's the surest sign that an immature person is speaking.

It's always kind of funny to come across people who: a) don't get along with anyone and b) think that the previously stated fact is a problem with everybody else in the world. If you don't get along with a few people, those few people are probably to blame. If you don't get along with anyone, you're the one with a problem.

Depending on where you go to school, you are surrounded by either thousands or tens of thousands of peers. And your thought is that YOU are the only tolerable human being in this enormous group of people? Like your university is just you and 20,000 complete assholes?

I have no friends and never had a relationship with anyone. I blame this on the fact I have zero social skills, no confidence, and on a completely different maturity level.

When is this going to change for me? I'm getting pretty depressed.

My Life Consists of Wake up, Run, Eat, Class, Run, Study, Bed Repeat. I go to bed early and wake up early. This is rare in college.

I am a social outcast and am getting tired of it. My only escape is running. Perhaps people here can relate or offer advice?

Part of being mature is putting your feelings aside and your prejudices about people and trying to relate. The fact that you can't relate to anyone is an example of your immaturity. How will you function in the real world if you can't find a friend in college. Part of being a functional person in society is being able to communicate and relate. No one will hire you if you don't have any social skills, how will you get through an interview. Companies no matter what their business is (engineering, IT, etc) rely on communication. If you can't makes friends then your future is that of a trash collector.

Surely I can fake my way through an interview. I understand what you all are saying though.

It is quite possible my mental issues (BDD, etc.) are a major player in the problems I am having. I am trying to work on being less judgmental. I believe it's a process though as I have always been this way.

Again thank you for all your advice. I think it is working to change me for the better. While I still keep my values and stay true to them, I want to be able to accept others for who they are.

Sanitation workers do an extremely valuable service and are more likely to die on the job than cops or firemen. They deserve our respect and gratitude. Plus, most of them are pretty friendly.

This is interesting, actually. It's not something I like to admit or talk about much, but I do have somewhat of what might be considered an odd affinity for younger males. Not that I'd ever do anything. I mean I'd never hurt a kid.

Find something you are interested in and hang out with people based on interests not age. For me it was philosophy and religion. Also, consider you might be an old soul. I feel most comfortable around people at least 20 years older than me. Ironically, my wife and I pick neighborhoods, churches, etc, where most people are retired and older. It's a running joke between us.

Okay. I admit it. I did make that post. I realized shortly after that I shouldn't have admitted this publicly, so I pretended that it was someone else that said it. The truth is that I am into 13-14 year old boys. As I said, I'd never do anything with a kid, but the unfulfilled longing to touch those silky smooth boy-legs gnaws at me every day of my life.

People cannot communicate perfectly because not only are they imperfect but more interestingly the tools (human senses) with which they communicate are relative. If you accept this truth, you will gain a sense of empowerment and finally see the futility in conversation. Words are just noises echoing from seemingly mindless chatter boxes. You control where you go and how you feel. Why you feel the need to speak with the mindless chatter boxes is the result of an otherwise dormant program ingrained in a our primal brains thousands of years ago when we roamed the Earth like migratory birds.

The core of mans' spirit comes from new experiences.

I agree that new experiences are important but to a certain degree. I don't think you should try say "drugs" just for the sake of the new experience.

To the person that called me a loser, I think I'm far from a loser. I will swing and back to you and say why are these forums filled with so many people that are so quick to put down OP's and posters?
