This is a little off topic but Morgan Uceny, who won the race, has been called a juicer. Could someone elaborate or explain why they believe her to be so?

She is a very healthy eater and likes to make fruit and veggie smoothies with her juicer. Don't knock'm 'til you try'm!

This is Lets Run. Winning means you juice
Totally unfair but thats just how things are around here
Her poor race tactics aside - what really turned me off was the post race interview she did. Excuse after excuse and then repeating the first excuse she mentioned several times over followed by the, "you've got to bleed to beat me" Pre quote was a little much. I'd say the top three did little bleeding - more like hunting down a wounded animal.
she may be your hero...but she is staying home
The interview was the worst part. The Pre quote, the part where she says "when you're head and shoulders above everyone else" why sit and kick., the "I think sitting and kicking is stupid", all the usual CWT food poison, lack of sleep excuses. The head and shoulders comment especially was just a slap in the face to the athletes who made the team and gave us all a glimpse into why CWT doesn't have any friends on the circuit or really anywhere else for that matter. No one can stand the b.
To to any freshman track meet and you will see this type of courage. Take it out in 70 and run the last lap in 90. Poor pacing isn't guts, it is stupidity.

whoever said that she ran with heart was exactly right. The problem was that she didn't run with her head enough. A 62 was silly - a 64 would have had the same effect, and maybe not wrecked her legs so much.
But that was great entertainment. Most of those people saying she shouldn't have done it know in their hearts that she showed more courage than they have.
It was .01 from being a great move.

Yes, Pre would be proud.
Is it just me, or did Christin's facial 'scrunch' post-race bear an uncanny resemblence to Pre's?
I thought it beared more resemblance to Oscar the Grouch...
The difference between CWT and a 13 year old girl is that CWT has run 4 flat or thereabouts. She is a professional runner. She had trained for going out fast. She likes to go out fast. CWT's raceplan was not a stupid ignorant move, it was what she had planned for months. Races get stolen like this - it is an actual strategy that professionals use once in a while. For CWT to miss the national team by .02 is not bad - she probably was the 4th or 5th fastest person in that race and that is where she finished, barely off the team. What's so wrong about that?(On the other hand, a 64 would have been smarter, and that interview was um embarrasing.)___________________________

From the perspective of one who knows essentially nothing about distance race tactics, I was thinking but one word while watching her run, based solely upon her body language:
moron.

She did not need to steal the race. Her credentials were as strong as anyone in the field. She came in with the season's fastest 1500 time. She had a faster 800 pb than anyone in the field except Uceny and Pierce (faster than Rowberry and Simpson). She and Pierce are the only runners in the field with pbs under both 4 in the 1500 and 2 in the 800.
Plus everyone knew Rowberry had been injured and was not yet in top shape and Pierce had not run well in the 1500 this year.
Pushing the pace hard to eliminate the pack so it doesn't come down to sit and kick can be a great strategy. Solinsky did that in the 5K and whittled the field down to 3 with a sub 4 last 1600.
But imagine if Solinsky went out in the first 1600 in sub 4 and put a half a lap on everyone only to die in the last 400. That is essentially what Wurth Thomas did.
She proved that you can't run the 1500 on pure hate.
You can't train to go out fast. You can train to be in great shape.CWT had made the last couple national teams and ran in a WC final. She was a favorite to make the team. She had the fastest time by an american last year by almost 2 seconds. She is the list leader for this year. And it isn't any of the slower runners have better 800m times. She panicked and took it out too fast.
