The weather was getting quite nice by the 1600 and especially by the 800. The 85 and humid applies to those who ran the 4x8 over 2 hours earlier. Ultimately this should be LV's race to lose. I wouldn't expect a lot of sub 4s since we've seen only 4 do it ever, and without specific rabbits or pros in there I don't see it happening, otherwise we could see LV go 3:56. I'd love to see some sub 4s though, and I think Mudd has the best tools to pull the upset.

All this talk about what a great kick and speed Oshier has. I don't think he's as fast as LV but he is fast. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty certain LV has at least 1:49-1:50 800 speed, perhaps even 1:48. I bet he can also run at least 49 in the 400 if not faster. After what he did to the field at NIN after the 5000 and 2 mile, I'm certain Lukas has a nasty kick somewhere in there. I don't think you can run 8:29 in the 2 mile without being in sub 4 shape or right on the edge. He's got to have at least 1:50 speed right now. Also, a lot of people are getting hype on Oshier's 4:00.88 1600. T and F News convert's Oshier's time to a 4:02.23 mile. Remember when Lukas ran 4:03.88 indoors in February. I think he was good for a 4:02 outdoors at that time. If they go through in 2 minutes at 880 or below, I see Lukas running in the 3:57 range at the very least.
I LV, goes through the half in 2:01 or 2:02, I can see him running 3:58 to 59.
Too bad Keffri Neal from BC, Canada, who kicked Mudd's ass at the Brooks this February, isn't in the race also. A 1:49 800m runner who ran 3:50 for 1500m last weekend finishing in 56.2 for last 400 and 27 for last 200m.

Not too bright are you. Oshier's best (actually only) chance of winning is to NOT push the pace, let LV push it as fast or slow as he wants to, sit on LV's shoulder and try to win on the kick.

I think this is an incredibly ignorant statement. Running "fast" has NOTHING to do with whether it was your best. You do not know if what he did yesterday was running at his best. Maybe he would have run 3:57 with pacesetters, you don't know. Alan Webb ran some crazy fast times before going 3:53...if he had never run in the pre meet would you be claiming he "Ran his best" without pacers? LV went 8:40 indoors in the 2mile without pacesetters. Did he run his "best"? Nobody can know that.

Neal peaked early is all. And you know it. Oshier over Mudd and the rest.
Just gonna comment on LV, I can't imagine anyone capable of 8:29 for 2 miles (<7:50 3k equivalent) would be incapable of running under 4:00. In fact, I'd be surprised if any sub 7:50 3k runner couldn't run 3:58, even the long distance types. If LV is on top of things there's no way he runs over 4:00, and with so few HS guys ever running that fast, I find it hard to see him losing. I don't see LV outsprinting anyone down the homestretch though, so I hope it's 4:00 pace from the gun (60, 2:00, 3:00).
Should be exciting.
It will take a sub4 effort to beat Lukas, and maybe even faster than that.
If Oshier is capable of doing so, then this will be the greatest HS mile of all time.

The dark horse is the Navajo Indian Billy Orman to settle the white mans score. Or rather do some scalpin'. I agree. There is no way you can run an 8:29 2 mile and aren't capable of running below 4. I also think if you can do that, there is no way you can't run at least 1:49 for the 800. And, this guy just ran a pro race last week and knows what following true speed feels like. I don't see anyone running him down. He has too much strength and I suspect he has way more speed than a lot of people think. If Oshier has the perfect race, I see LV in like 3:57.85 and Oshier at like 4:00.54. Cheserek may come in between sub 4 or 4:01 over Oshier assuming he doesn't run out to crazy.

Just a few notable names among many examples. And these guys were well under 8:29.
Doesn't mean LV can't do sub-4. But it's not ordained. And 1:49 is very hard for distance guys, which LV is.
