Oshier will destroy Verzbicas in the Dream Mile

I heard he was 6'3''.

He doesn't seem 6'3"; my sister's boyfriend is 6'5" and he looks a tad taller.

I think Oshier wins in 4:02.

Though I could see how he could look taller because he's very slim.

An 8:29 2 miler will not get "destroyed" by any high schooler in a race mile and up. Oshier might beat him narrowly, but if it's paced right he'll have to run 3:59 to do it.

Verzbicas 3:57, Oshier 3:58, Cheserek 4:00, Gedyon 4:01.

When is this race?

If Mudd ran it he'd beat them all, including 18 yr. old Lukas and 20 yr. old Gedyon.

Next week I believe on Saturday? Can anyone confirm this?

I'll go with Lukas "the African Leopard" Verzbicas, for his triathlon abilities.

Jantzen "the Weasel" Oshier for ability to not let up.

They need to invite Billy "the American Black Buzzard" Orman in the race. For his ability to scavenge the slackers.

Even if Lucas is 18, he still broke the high school record

Gedyon couldn't kick down Verzbicas at Indoor nats and he has 48 second speed just like Oshier, and that was after Verzbicas ran the 2 mile and the 5k. I don't think Oshier will win, although I like him and I hope he goes sub-4.

I personally believe the only two who have a shot of breaking it are Oshier and Verzbicas. Gedyon probably would've beaten Oshier earlier in the season at the Brooks PR Invitational (he stumbled strides away from the finish and almost fell coming through the finish line, right when he caught up). Oshier tends to lead after the first 400; I feel that if he were to sit on Lukas then make a move with 400 to go Lukas wouldn't be able to respond to it, especially with his ability to close in 57 seconds like he did yesterday (1200 split was 3:04 something).

What a joke.

Mudd has a 1600 PR that is 3 full seconds slower than Jantzen's, and barely matches up to Lukas' indoor mile months ago (and notably, a mile is just slightly longer than a 1600).

Statistically speaking, Jantzen has shown this weekend that Mudd doesn't have a prayer.

As for Lukas, the fact that his 2mile time just dropped by 11 seconds pretty much guarantees that Mudd doesnt have a chance beating him either

I agree. I believe he could've broken 4 yesterday had the track not been as slippery, in fact I believe all the times could have been quite a bit faster. When some people were doing their warm up drills on the track it looked as if they were sliding. The weather, however, was perfect for that 1600. I still think it's just going to be a battle of Verzbicas and Oshier, and that they'll push each other so they both run faster times. Gedyon could become a factor if they make their moves too late though, but I think Oshier (and Verzbicas) know this already.

I'd love to see a race but Verzbicas is at a totally different level. Oshier is an aggressive fun guy to see race, though, fearless and confident, and I'm sure he'll try to make a race of it.

After that, it will be fun to see how the other guys place. There are some compelling stories. Mudd, not on many peoples radar screens, who sort of came out of nowhere to run 4:03/1:49. Hopefully Mudd got a late invite. Orman, the Ivy league bound poet whose pr last year was 4:19 and whose coach told him he'd never cut it as a miler, who went on to run 4:05 essentially solo and with a bit of altitude and heat. The Rosas, who look to be peaking at the right time. Gedyon, of course, who ran sub 4:10 as a frosh and still could have a huge race. Verzbicas will almost certainly win but it should be a fun four minutes. Many others.

Race time is 2:40 pm Saturday (eastern time zone).

My picks:

Oshier - provided race is fast all the way

Verzbicas - doesn't have the kick off fast pace

Mudd - could win if pace is slow enough

Totally different level? I wouldn't go so far as to say that. Sure, he's more talented than a lot of people in that field, but I still think if anyone's going to beat him, it's Oshier. Oshier improved vastly this year (7 seconds off his 1600 time from last year at OC Champs), and I'm sure they'll both have a lot of confidence going into that race; Verzbicas with his 2 mile record, and Oshier with his 1600 State Championship title and near 4 second PR.
