    Hey, don't worry about it, big gap. Things happen here on the boards and I don't let it get to me much. As fans of the sport go, I'm pretty tough.

    I really admire our top runners. I admire any runner, especially the ones who try and be good at it. But the top runners in their prime deserve special respect. Anyone can push running to their limits, but the athletes in their prime simply have the most capacity. They work the hardest. So yeah, I'll throw some ideas around, knowing some blowback is coming.

    As General Barringer said in the movie "Wargames", "Hell, I'd piss on a spark plug if I thought it'd help".

    Me too. Of course, if you actually have it hooked up to a running car .... maybe not. :D

    Are you sure about that? How do you take two runners, 27:23 and 27:31, and the best you can get out of either of them is a 62:08 HM, 62:11 HM and 2:15:00 marathon? Flanagan is a 30:20 10k runner who runs the marathon in 2:28. That's 13 minutes slower than the world record.

    Even if you were trying to screw things up this is almost impossible to do.

    you may be right about his other athletes, but that 2:28 isn't a reasonable token of her marathon ability that day because the lead pack was very slow for most of the race and it is a slow course. But I do not think that she is going to be running sub 2:20 next time out, which would be more in accordance with her 10k time, which is Radcliffe territory.

    I wonder if Schumacher can get him under 2:14:00? 0-3 in the marathon. A broken clock is right twice a day.

    Why bother? Everyone knows his best event is the 7500m. Oh wait. Oh well, I guess he should just focus on the 5000m and 10000m then.
