Will Smith always plays Will Smith. I'll admit that I haven't seen Ali, but all his other movies are essentially Will Smith in various stories. Will Smith is an alien-hunting government agent. Will Smith is a pilot tasked with saving the world. Will Smith is a dating expert. Will Smith is poor. Will Smith is a policeman who inexplicably drives a $100,000+ car.

Will Smith has got to get him one of these. Will Smith got one of these and is angry that you destroyed it. And so on.

Hugh Grant is the guy who ALWAYS plays the same role - bumbling Englishman who stumbles into some kind of relationship with a hottie.

Jack Black pretty much plays himself - even he admits that!

John Candy/John Beluschi/Chris Farley - all the same characters...and dead too soon.

Except that on the rare occasions when he grants in-depth interviews, writers consistently note their surprise that he is not, in fact, at all like any of the characters he plays in his movies.

Ben Stiller plays some eccentric, funny characters, not obvious dullards, in Heavyweights and School for Scoundrels

I would agree with people who say Tommy Lee Jones plays the same character. I can't think of a movie where he isn't some type of cop, or agent K in MIB. Such a sick movie!
