If you are sincere then you are a part of the problem that you think you're trying to solve. You don't like Marco for his unhinged ranting but that's exactly what you are doing here. You are flailing around trying to cancel someone's life because your Salem witch trial instincts are being triggered.
Again, though, if you are trolling it's great work.
I at no point had what could be vaguely considered an unhinged rant. I was simply explaining things as they are. Marco should be banned from collegiate racing. He is a psycho kid who needs immediate psychiatric assistance and does not need to be intimidating the other athletes who know how to act their age and behave with good sportsmanship. The fact that you can’t see how much of a problem Marco is means that you approve of it and are likely as bad as he is.
I am nothing like Marco but I am also not intimidated by him, nor do I think he is particularly problematic. He is on one end of the personality spectrum. You actually are ranting here and you are also probably replying to yourself. Hope you're having fun imagining the demise of distance runners who aren't Catholic enough for Villanova. I thought you were a troll but if you are actually expressing these opinions then I imagine you spend a lot of time alone. Enjoy that.
This kid is an absolute disgrace to our sport. A sore loser and completely vulgar at that. He insulted Gary Martin and Habtom Samuel. He looked like he was going to get physical with JG over a simple question. No class, arrogant, petty, immature, petulant, aggressive, and obnoxious. Not to mention he gave this atrocity of an interview representing Villanova in his school attire. They need to launch an investigation and kick this punk kid off of the team and revoke his scholarship. He is a disgrace and should be made an example of by Villanova and the NCAA.
Your post is arrogant, petty, immature, petulant, aggressive, and obnoxious. I mean that in full sincerity.
I don't believe that Marco's behavior was all of those things, but he doesn't fall into the Roger Bannister "gentleman racer" category. It takes all types.
Maybe pop up some popcorn and enjoy the rivalries?
well if you found this post all of that, then you definitely found Marco interview the same. Very hypocritical
I admire and applaud his competitiveness and toughness while racing. Despite running a PR and breaking a record, I have no problem with him having some unhappiness with the result.
But as soon as he slapped the track and stood up, his disrespect to others began. He could have continued walking in the lane from which he rose to clear the finish line area before exiting the track. This is basic good practice. Starting with middle school track intervals, who has not been taught this? Langon was so self absorbed that he did not even look back, he just walked across the lanes to the infield. Could have resulted in an injury to himself and others.
He was disrespectful to Martin and Samuel. Great race by all three, but Langon did the least amount of work and didn't have anything positive to say about his competitors. I have no desire to listen to the interview again to relate exactly what he said, but he had a poor attitude toward both.
Both Langon and the interviewer could do better. First F-Bomb, you get a pass. Second one should have resulted in: "Congratulations on the PB today, Marco. Good health and good luck the remainder of the season." Interview over.
Others interviewing him in the future should not tolerate that kind of disrespect.
Reflect on your behavior, Marco. Learn from your mistakes post race. Do better, be better.

Great takes. You mostly see things as I do with that punk.
Just a slight disagreement. I’m glad Jon Gault kept the interview going after the profanity commenced. Keep the cameras rolling so that the fans see how petty and immature Langon really is. Allow the fans to make up their own mind after seeing the whole picture. That’s good journalism.
I think the only way a guy like that learns from his mistakes is if there are consequences. The athletic director and coaching staff should review the interview and determinate what actions need to be taken to protect the reputation of good sportsmanship at Villanova. They should consider a suspension or possibly a revocation of Langon’s scholarship if he refuses to comply with the suspension.
Clearly none of you have been contending to win a race or fast enough to get interviewed afterwards. What Marco is doing is genius. You need to have a brand if you want to get a contract after college and he's building a similar brand to the best in the world. Look at how many eyes the Bednarek/Lyles fight or Hocker/Kerr/Jakob have attracted to the track world in the last few years. Big personalities, no matter how divisive they may seem, help promote the sport to all. Whoever signs Marco after college will do so just as much for his outspokenness as for his running pedigree. People like him make the sport fun to watch. If you don't want to hear people bragging about their accomplishments in sports, go back to watching middle school basketball, Grow up.
Of course I've been arrested, notably many times for public intoxication, although I always try to run away first which is the smart thing to do.
Out of college, before I gambled my way to being rich, I was a degenerate who didnt give a damn. Why? Because I didn't really want to live in society, sadly and honestly. I was an ethical law breaker, I would never clean anyone out and ruin their life. Then when I got money, I donated and gave a lot of money away. Always had a big heart, just a hurt and broken one.
First crime was robbing liquor stores with my buddies. I was also a getaway driver since I had a whip. Did the same to retail stores for clothes and food. Did pim.ping hoes of course. Got them a hotel room, but I probably lost money overall from that endeavor as they are full of tricks. Advanced to ethical scamming, getting 20 to 50 bucks at a time pretending to be down on luck or offering and item/service from well off people in wealthy neighborhoods. Got careless and the pigs nabbed me. Let out of the clink, stopped that lifestyle for a bit to give back to the communities helping people out with food and money. When I have it, I give. When I didn't, I schemed.

Yup, let’s let the sport turn into the WWE. Since the culture is so debased, let us go ahead and let our sport get ruined like several others just to please the riff raff that is the ignorance of the masses. Great idea genius.

It is ironic he’s so upset Brian Musau didn’t race. Musau ran cross while he redshirted, if you wanted to race him so bad you know where to find him. Also saying he’s just following his coaches plan, I’m sure Brian is too.
After watching the race, and reading the thread responses, and being a new jersey running fan I say this.....Marco ran a damn fantastic race at the end. Probably should have contributed to pace setting if he could, but that is not his bag. When he opens his mouth, look out he is full of angst/energy. Loved watching him him run in HS. Who was that guy that was his nemesis here in NJ? Remember kids, don't peak in HS.

No need to talk crap about Barna, he's transferred to CSU and it looks like he's working his way back up
