To me this is the most unnatural result I’ve seen in a looooong time. In track when something looks too good to be true EVERY time it’s proven that it is. She’s pushed and pushed for this AR and suddenly she’s barely jogging, not out of breath, lifetimes ahead of everyone else and it’s 48.2? I’ve never questioned if she was clean before but after this I will take all of her races with a grain of salt. Really makes me feel weird.
This is what a prodigy who works hard at their craft would look like.
Owens,Pele,Ali,Lewis,MJ,Bolt, etc. The African gene is like that, makes the difficult look easy.
There is a rarefied air in track the last few year, Faith Kipyegon, Sifan Hassan, Beatrice Chebet, Mondo Duplantis and this young lady Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone . They just seem invincible right now or over the course of the last several years!
2025: Could barely break 49, missed the AR again....then hides herself away after Pre with just the nationals - that's just one meet in the TEN WEEKS between Pre & Tokyo - and prepares behind closed doors at home. Comes out, and barely breaks sweat running 48.29. You couldn't make it up.
Anyone That thinks that was a clean run has a screw loose or has no concept of the sport, what it takes for a woman to run that, or its history. Not even Koch could run a 48 2 so easily.
I just prey she's shot her bolt in the semi and doesn't break the WR in the final.
African gene is dominant. Tokyo ‘21,Budapest,and by end of this Championships, would have taken 53 of 54 medals in 100,200,400 men and women.
Sydney is very methodical in the 400. It may sound odd to say, but she’s truly sprinting now. Her earlier 400s were more like controlled strides, holding a steady cadence thru the 4 stages of the race. Shifting from a step-count approach around the track to actually sprinting the 400 took time. Running the 100 hurdles and the open 100 was all about getting comfortable with pure sprinting. She’s already hurdled a 400 in 50-point, so why wouldn’t sub-48 be realistic? Most men who hurdle 50-point run 46–47 in the open 400.

Men's hurdles are higher. If Sydney had men's hurdles, she wouldn't run 50. That said, I think she's got another 0.2-0.3 left for the Final. Naser might be right there with her, but I put my money on SML.
But that would make her suspicious, so will jog a 47.5 (23/24,5). Could also see her go 50/52 = 1.52, but she doesn't want to get into Mu territory. Would probably beat Kipyegon at 1500m if she cared to train for the event.

I reckon she could break 3.36 for the 1500, but that would look suspicious too so she would coast to a 3.45 or the like.
Look at her first 200 - 23.2. This was definitely race pace for her - a lot of the top 400 folks will run race pace for the first 200 in the semis and then cruise it in, which is what she did today.
Based on that, we can extrapolate her second half - the norm for a strength-based runner like her would be a 1 second differential, so 23.2 + 24.2 for a 47.4, which would put her right under the world record, assuming maybe plus around .15 seconds or so, which would be 47.55.

She’s not getting the WR unless she goes out in at least 22.8 or so. She’s strong but not one second difference on the split strong. 22.8 and 24.8 is more of the magic split i think if she gets there.
Nobody you know is familiar with Duplantis because everybody you know becomes slightly interested in track during an Olympic year, and during an Olympic year only. That is to say that they hardly ever follow the sport, only the major headlines once every 4 years (generally speaking). Even so, it’s obvious that Mondo is completely more dominant in pole vault than Bolt ever was in the sprints…and Mondo doesn’t need a “special German massage therapist”.
Dominant doesn't mean interesting.
Duplantis representing Sweden and never competing at the top of his potential means that he will never get famous in the US. I know very who he is, but I don't care about him at all.

She's probably not going to break that WR without PEDs. Koch would run nowhere near 47.60 without drugs. Syd's goal is clearly winning races and titles. She certainly does that.
This 400m final is not guaranteed. Hope she gets it done.
Has any New Zealand 400 meter runner ever broken 60 seconds?
So you're new to the sport? You do know that Knighton was busted?
As much as I disagree with almost all of your posts, I do not support ANY runner who is busted. I also do not cast aspersions on any runner who has never tested positive for anything just because they are a superior athlete like Sydney.
