YOU are speculating. As someone who knows much more about this than you do, I can tell you that you are not an “objective” observer and that you consistently overrate Jakob. You seem to think that Jakob has 26:30 ability, despite the fact that he has never shown this, not once. 26:30 runners do not fall apart at 27:27 pace. Jakob was exposed in that half marathon. He didn’t belong with the big boys, and he is battling injury problems. You cherry pick data that suits your narrative, as I just did when I mentioned his half marathon, but you don’t even seem to know you are doing it.
It makes zero sense that a guy who has won 3 consecutive 5000 meter world titles would be lacking in 10k ability. You don't know anything. That half marathon is the most meaningless data point you could provide, and I think that you already know that.
I am very confident that most 26:30 runners actually would slow down after running 27:27 in a half marathon they weren't taking seriously after an extremely long season.
Jakob says he is a competitor and a gold candidate on any startline. Well he was on the startline of Copenhagen.
Now with his injuries he isn’t going to be a 26:30 guy. If he isn’t conquering the 5k WR he will not be a good 10k runner. He will get another injury because you pressured him to push the 10k limit.
Oh now you are hoping for injuries?! How serious.
It is obvious that he won´t run fast and brake more WRs if if he doesn´t get free from injuries.
But IF he gets healthy he will break the 5000m WR (he could possibly have broken it both in 2023 and 2024 if he has run the 5000m instead the 2000m in 2023 or 3000m in 2024).
And then later he will take the 10000m as well.
If you can speculate I will speculate on mine too.
ok, so this was run on 28 AUG, correct? If so, I would think he’s looking very good for Tokyo. 2.5 weeks to sharpen off that seems plenty.
However, I wasn’t clear from the recent NRK reports whether he’s had more setbacks since then. Can anyone clarify?
He looks relaxed and lean, but his stride was a little off his best IMO.
Yes, he does not have the dorsiflexion beauty of Laros. He is supinating rather and this is not suitable mechanics for 55s running. Wastes lots of energy, not light on feet, slower reaction time to pace changes. If Laros moves, Jakob goodbye bye.
He needs 20x400m at 54.0 seconds with 40s rest. That’s the gold standard of mile by El G. El G had sub min rest for all his rest too. 63.5s is baby pace for 1500m. If he is building aerobic base but it’s already race day why is he still in building phase? It means he just isn’t ready for 1500m at worlds. We should be seeing him knocking 54s by now.
i was heavily down voted, and the nay sayer was heavily downvoted. that seems unique
on epo or super goat, can do what ever.
slower 400 in abundance is aerobic. you need that stimulus , along with
and 54 400 with 90 sec 2 min recovery
these are conpletely different workouts and both effective.
main point is that 8 fast reps or so at 400, is all you need fir the adaptation to take place. after that you are wasting energy.
with test and epo and hgh, go ahead and break every rule in the book, you will recover just fine, while the elnatural guy goes to hispital.
EL G aerobic was 54s then? He did that in abundance at altitude too. The 10k WR would have been 25 flat.
Average workout. Rest is too long and WR is 62s. It doesn’t translate well to 55s 1500m running. He needs to do 20x400 at 54 seconds with 40s rest to wow eyes around the world. Third workout only puts him in contention again for 5000m and not 1500m
Can’t believe I’m even responding to something so stupid but do you seriously think this is even humanly possible?
I'm not sure about the original poster but yes i believe it is for the miler goat El G!

If it was a threshold workout then it was impressive. You need to understand that if he was running at threshold intensity then this workout was far below the gut-busting intensity of the "standard" 15 to 20 x 400m workouts that many athletes used to do back in the day while training themselves into oblivion.

if you watch the video, he says it's an easy session between 2 hard sessions.
It's weird that Henrik says "5k pace at altitude is supposed to hurt" (8:24).
63/64 is closer to 10k pace for Jakob, I think
I don’t know. 63.5 is like 26:27 10000m pace, which is likely beyond Jakob’s range at this time. He is probably closer to 26:50. But we are all speculating.
We can't just gift people speculative times WAY under 27 blasphemy. Especially someone with all that speed I need to see it to believe it.
You should write a book called the 3(+) faces of Khamis! But you have gotten lacy with your internal up votes it seems…
You guys have the tendency to put way too much emphasis on the message carrier than the message itself to such extent that a good message can be unfairly prejudiced and parts of the truth may not be truly savoured and indulged like chocolate cookies ice dream!!
Stop trying to indulge in me or whoever , I’m flattered much. Indulge instead in the fact that your boy idol Jakob is very far behind time in training and biomechanical efficiency to even stand on the start line this year. Look at his legs in the video here it’s so sluggish and dragging, there is no physical space-time that stands out to the discerning blue eyes of mine. The Jakob of old would have demonstrated very precise tolerances in terms of spatial-temporal stride mechanics. That was in 2020 and 2021 when the world was on lockdown and he was unvaccinated still.
I’m not dowsing your boy idol so don’t act up on me. I’m just being real honest here. Jakob was doing the same 20x400 in flagstaff last year also coming back from injury and it was higher altitude and he was running 1 second faster in 62.5s and guess what he was gassed by a very good looking Scottish blue-eyed assassin in the prefontaine mile!!
Unless we see a 400x8 next Wednesday from him in 54.00 each with 1min rest we know he isn’t heads and shoulders above the field some of whom are dopers.
